Cornell vs SIRM
I made an appointment at Cornell for early January with Dr. Pak Chung. He and Cornell seemed to have gotten some good reviews on this site.
I'm not ready to jump to IUI or IVF yet but I just want to find out why we haven't gotten pregnant. It's been a year of TTC.
After I made the appointment I realized that the Cornell office is more out of the way than SIRM. I realize this shouldn't be the reason why I pick a place but I can't help but think about all the trips I will have to take in the morning walking from Lexington Avenue to York Avenue and then back to Lexington Avenue to go to work.
What do you think? Should I try to make an appt with SIRM? Also, if I call SIRM now, what sort of wait times do they have for appointments? If I will have to wait a few months, I'd rather stick to Cornell.
Does anyone have any experiences with both? What advantages does Cornell have over SIRM?
Thanks!

Re: Cornell vs SIRM
As for SIRM, Dr. Tortoriello has a 3 month wait while Dr. Wang has a few week wait. Both are great but Dr. T specializes with endo girls and recurrent loss so I aimed for him. As for Cornell, Dr. Chung is awesome. I adore him. He is def worth the commute. Either way, both practices have fantastic Drs. I would consult with both and figure from there. You can always set up a consult with SIRM and if you end up loving cornell, you can cancel it. I would set it up soon though bc the wait gets longer after Christmas.

Cornell vs SIRM
I have no experience with either clinic.
I think it takes about 3 months to get an appointment with SIRM. I know SIRM will test/treat you for possible immune issues.
I think you need to pick the practice you feel most comfortable with and the one that best suits your specific IF needs - even if it is inconvenient. I traveled 200+ miles for my last cycle and had to be away from my DH and stay with family for 3 weeks, but it was worth it!

OK I'm going to keep my appointment with Cornell and Dr. Chung especially if Dr. Tortoriello has a 3 month wait. Maybe I will go ahead and make an appt with him just in case and if anything I can cancel it.
I heard Dr. Tortoriello specializes in endometriosis or immune issues but I honestly have no idea if I have any of those. I don't, and never had painful periods, so I don't think I have endometriosis. I have never been diagnosed with immune issues.
Picking an RE is hard at first b/c some of them have certain specialties but when you are knew to IF, you really have no clue what the problem is.

Re: Cornell vs SIRM
I have been to both practices. They are both excellent. Cornell is definitely a much bigger practice and runs efficiently for being so big. I liked that the monitoring hours are early in the morning and you are seen pretty quickly. I loved Dr. Tortoriello at SIRM. He looks at each case individually and thinks outside the box. The monitoring hours there are not ideal though. They start at 9 and are by appointment. You don't have to wait since you have an appointment but if you work it's very hard to work around honestly. I would stick with Cornell for now in my opinion if you don't have a specific diagnosis yet. You are in very good hands either way you go. Good luck!!

I had no idea that SIRM's monitoring hours start at 9. I start work at 8:30 so I was hoping to take little to no time off for monitoring.

Dr wang starts at 8. I see him. He is fantastic. If I emailed him right now in a pickle he would respond. I highly recommend SIRM!
