Coronavirus data to DC

I find it very odd that he is now demanding that they send data to D.C. instead of the CDC. He is obviously trying to hide something. He is having a public falling out with Fauci and school districts are going against his demand for reopening.

He knows he eff this up, hasn't done shit in months to help fix the situation and he now is trying to hide data because elections are coming up.

Didn't a Florida official resign, alleging that she was asked to suppress numbers? The only documented claims that I have seen about systemic, deliberate manipulation of numbers have been allegations that they were being made artificially LOW...but I would love to see sources that say otherwise.

He's going to try to control the numbers to make schools open and keep people working in spite of the pandemic because the corporations have to keep producing and billionaires need their money.

It has always been met with volatile and ignorant responses. However, on this thread ladies are talking about the conspiracy of numbers being too low and the government having a hidden agenda. That seems to be ok and you are educated when you think that way.

I may be wrong about this, and I will happily be corrected if I am. My understanding is that the underreporting accusation came from an actual Florida official who resigned and alleged that she was asked to underreport. This is not a conspiracy theory; it's a whistleblower alleging first hand knowledge of corruption.

The overinflation rumors came from an error/misunderstanding that had to do with flat-out wrong percentages, like 100%, reported from facilities--. But I haven't seen a credible report of actual numbers inflated anywhere, and Gov. DeSantis acknowledged the error re: percentages, didn't he? There are probably also individual testing and clerical errors that run both ways everywhere.

Beyond that, I haven't heard about anything substantiable that wouldn't be considered a conspiracy theory. That said, I don't follow everything super closely, and I would want to be corrected if I have missed something.

But that's the difference to me.

There is actual evidence of what is happening here. The news broke that they are bypassing the CDC. Then there's the Florida story.

There is no evidence whatsoever of some type of conspiracy to make the numbers look higher. It's my cousin's uncle's neighbor's babysitter's dogwalker.

(This is not remotely directed at you, Sash): Sorry but some people need to get some critical thinking skills. Someone came on here the other day and said that blue states are making the numbers higher to defeat Trump. BLUE states. There is no need for that. It's not worth the trouble. There is no danger of him winning. Just like there is no need for Trump to pull off some grand conspiracy in, say, Louisiana. People are going to get called out for stuff like that.

And you know what’s crazy, I’m not blinded by one side or political party. Just because I know for a freaking fact that false cases were reported, testing wasn’t reliable in the beginning in NJ & NY doesn’t mean that I won’t believe that something is going in FL. But you know what, as a mathematician, I follow the numbers not my convictions. Not the numbers being manipulated to fit people’s agenda.

Can’t say that for many people on this board. The name calling and ******** happening is because there is a bunch of close minded rude @ss mother f#ckers on this Site. Yea I said it. And I’ve been called a mean girl, but search through my freaking posts all the way from LiF and I’ve never called anyone out their name unless they started first and provoked me. Even then the handful of times it’s happened, I’ve deactivated my account or taken time off this site because it’s not worth it.

Your tantrum was very out of proportion to what I said, so perhaps this is indeed one of those times you should consider deactivating or taking time off.

Going by the numbers matters-so does weighing evidence and credibility.

If we follow the numbers, we see, on one side, an allegation by a named party that she was asked to manipulate data--large scale-systemically. It may not have been proven at a trial, but it's at least a real news story-not a conspiracy theory. We also have the President quoted a few times about his desire to slow testing/keep numbers down, etc. Add in the removal of data from the public domain, and concern is natural, not paranoid, even if no formal trial has occurred. It's just concern.

On the other side, by the numbers, you have an error, dismissed by the REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR as an innocent misunderstanding, not affecting numbers, but percentages, and since CORRECTED. This is posited by some on here to be part of a bigger scheme to make Trump look bad? Even DeSantis dispelled the idea that this was intentional. Then some added chatter about nameless, individual people who allege clerical errors. There probably are clerical errors in both directions--plus countless people who have had covid and never got tested. So...no. Forget proven--there is no substantiable, credible allegation of a large scale manipulation. It's a conspiracy theory--no names to attach to any allegation that even if proven, would amount to anything. (Unless there's more??)

Further, it's offensive to accuse anyone on here of wanting to overplay the virus. No one who fears this virus and isn't a sociopath wants to see misreporting keep us locked up longer; people want others to adhere to guidelines so that they can resume life. Plus, it's not like any overplaying of what we already know to be true is going to make this administration look worse to some hypothetical undecided person for whom dumpster fire to bigger dumpster fire is a move of the needle.

BUT, a few on here have consistently downplayed the virus and how easy it is to get, getting angry because they don't "feel" like being within six feet of someone w/ no mask isn't risky under some circumstances. So...no--it's not hypocritical of anyone to be concerned about actual news stories and whether the allegations being made, combined with what we know is true--while still demanding that others back up their allegations with actual sources before they upgrade them from conspiracy theories.
