Re: cost to re-side a house?
It really depends on the type of siding. are you putting foam board, wrap or both under it, trim, etc. ?
We did our dormered (3 bedrooms & bath upstairs) cape 2 years ago and it was about $14k
We did foam board and wrap under it. We did all vinyl but front is cedar impression style, sides and back is regular slats. We added trim moulding above lower windows and shutters on all windows as well. The $14k also included removal of old aluminum siding and brick facade we had in front.
Like I said , it really depends on material used. There was a lot to choose from. We picked the best insulation, and best siding for the front with middle of the road priced siding for sides and back.
We used unified Michael hergott 631-617-0041
They also did our roof a few years ago and replaced our front door

that's not so bad! i was expecting over 20k, but I would assume for a non-dormered cape, it would be a little less than yours. We have brick on on the bottom now and white sizing on top, but we want to do a hunter green color and gray stone on the bottom

If you're adding stone to the bottom, you will be looking at higher $$$. We went all siding.
Other company's were much higher. Unified has great prices and will negotiate some. You should call the # gave you and get a quote. Doesn't hurt to see what they say.

Re: cost to re-side a house?
Like PP said - definitely depends on what you're doing, the products, etc.
My main advice is to meet with several - yes several companies. We went off of recommendations and met with at least 8 companies. We were doing a HUGE job - roof, siding, windows, we even added a window and two skylights, gutters - even adding fascia board to parts of the house so we can add gutters. We knew a lot of the boards needed to be replaced too due to years of no gutters and rot. It was a huge job.
With that said - we met with a lot of companies. For the most part the products were all the same - standard stuff. The company we ended up going with had a much superior product (siding & insulation) for similar cost.
In the end, we went with Brothers Aluminum in Valley Stream (we're in Suffolk) If you're interested in meeting with them - I'll get the info of the salesman we used.
