Coxsackie Exposure Questions
My niece just broke out in blisters on her hands and feet this morning....Poor little girl! We spent the entire day with her yesterday.
I am going back to work tomorrow and DS is beginning school. Has anyone DC been exposed very closely and not gotten coxsackie? DS is of course fine but wondering if he is now passing the virus around as well if he has been infected?
Are there different types of coxsackie? I read one website that said it is passed via saliva and another site said it was airborne. Which is correct?
Can some BTDT moms help me out?
So stressed about returning to work tomorrow and SIL's phone call is the icing on the cake.

Re: Coxsackie Exposure Questions
My son broke out with coxsackie the day after his 1st birthday party - broke out big time...He got it pretty bad - miserable and barely ate for a week and all that. We had a huge party for his b-day - over 25 kids and 40 adults. It was very random who actually contracted it. My husband got a form of it - knocked out major fever for a couple days. I didn't and neither did my older son (but in retrospect - maybe my older son had it the week before and I had no clue - he did run a fever and was irritable the week before and I blame it on lack of sleep and 3 yr old attitude.)
My neighbors entire family got it - two kids and the parents. My 2 nieces got very mild cases (if at all - they never confirmed with a dr - it was that mild). And one older boy (who barely was near my son but his younger sister didn't get it). So in general - I think it is hard to tell and it was so random for me. No one seemed to get it as bad as my son either. Everyone who did get it - got it about 3 days later.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Re: Coxsackie Exposure Questions
Sorry if I'm too late for this...
Loey was exposed to daycare either last Monday or Tuesday.... he was fine on Wednesday and Thursday and then I noticed him not feeling so great on Friday. He had a bit of a rash, but not on his palms or soles of his feet. We took him to the ped. that day and he said Loey had one sore in his throat.
On Saturday he seemed like he was feeling fine... but Sunday he was feeling worse. We didn't notice anymore sores, but Sunday and yesterday he was VERY cranky, didn't really want to eat his solids, wanted to BF FOREVER, runny nose, etc. He never got a fever or more sores, but he was definitely not feeling well!
Today he's still not completely himself...
He normally goes to daycare Mon/Tues/Thurs, but they are closed this week on Mon/Thurs/Fri... so we kept him out today so that he'll go back on Monday and hopefully be fully recovered.
HTH!
