Crashing....to ask a question about babysitting.
What would you or do you pay a babysitter to come to your home to watch 2 children. The ages are 3 & 5 , the hours are 7:30am-5:30pm, 3 days a week in their home.
I'm interested in a babysitting job and they are offering $90 per day.
Does this seem low for 2 children?
Thank you for any info!

Re: Crashing....to ask a question about babysitting.
well that comes to roughly $9 an hour for 2 kids, so I would say yes it definitley on the low side.
I would say anywhere between 12-15 per hour for 2 kids is fair.

Re: Crashing....to ask a question about babysitting.
Is that $90 per day tax free or are they going to expect you to give them your ss# so they can deduct the money they pay you on their taxes?
That is the first big question I would ask.
If it is tax free, I'd try to get them to come to $100 per day, othewise, for me $270 a week, tax free, would be some great extra money each month.
If they are going to be deducting your sevices on their taxes, which also means you will be receiving a 1099 for your earnings, then I'd expect at least $12 and hour.

Re: Crashing....to ask a question about babysitting.
I pay $45 a day for one child so that seems about right to me.

I think it's fair. $9 an hour and they aren't babies, and I'm sure it's tax free right?

I think it's low.
I agree with asking about the tax deduction. A few other questions to ask:
are they providing food? baby equipment?
If it's off the books entirely & in your home, then I think it's more reasonable.

Re: Crashing....to ask a question about babysitting.
It is off the books and it's in their home. Which makes things a lot easier.
And they're friends of ours...so I know the boys pretty well.
It's been a long time since I was paid to babysit so I wasn't sure what the going rate is and what to consider.
Hopefully it goes through.
Thanks for replies.
