Credit card & Student Loan Debt - How much is yours?

Some of my cousins and I were tabulating who had the biggest amounts of debt..My cousin easily won the contest - hehas 8K in credit card debt and 90K in student loan debt...

I cant wait to be debt-free..so EXCLUDING any mortgage debt, how much do YOU owe on your credit cards and/or student loans (if applicable)??

We paid off our student loans within 7 years, and we pay our cc's off in full each month. Still have a mortgage and 1 car payment though.

Any credit card debt that i carry would be for a large purchase and I always look for a zero % credit card to transfer that amount to.

For all my other credit cards, I pay in full when they are due.

I have about $20K left in student loan debt....

We happily have no student loan debt!! We have a small credit card balance, we will have it paid off after our tax refund. Soon we will have no car payment either. Excited about that LOL

Only student loans and right now I owe $21,000. Started at $43K and I have currently paid more back then I borrowed.

About $2000 in CC debt. Which will be paid off in a few weeks with our tax return.

about $60k

that's after I paid 60% of it off- in 2 years

I owed well over $100k on this day 2 years ago....I am very proud of what I have achieved- while changing careers and starting my life over

I paid off my student loans in under 5 years after graduating college as I paid more toward my premium each month.

In total, when I graduated, my loans amounted to btw $30-40K for a state school.

Wow I feel silly now.

I feel like I'm drowning in debt but i'm at $24,700 that includes the consolidation loan I took out to move down to TX. And that's me just estimated all of my CC's are maxed out, including store cards.

I have 3 more years on that loan then the max I can be in debt will be $9400 at any one time.

Both cars paid off, but i do have a mortgage.

Worse, I have daycare which is 2/3rds of my mortgage payment. Versus NY where my daycare was 80% of my rent.

Can't WAIT for her to go to public school so I can get a 'raise'


ETA: not bad considering we paid off about $30k in debt in the last two years.

I had $35K in student loan debt after 4 years of college and grad school. I have been out of school for many, many years, so all my student loans are paid off in full. Neither of us carry credit card debt, ever. Always paid in full.

Only debt we have is our mortgage, which is very reasonable. We have 3 cars, but luckily no payments. Just insurance.

My husband and I got married with $0 student loans.

We owe about 7,000 on our car.
We have about abother 7,000 in CC debt but we are paying it off with our tax return.

$0 - I finished paying my student loans in November (after 13 years since they deferred when I was in grad school).

Hmmm, considering my divorce, my credit card is up to $10,000 and my student loans are about $16,000 which really isn't too bad in comparison.

I also am leasing a car, so thats a monthy payment. Guess there's about $19,000 left on that too.

I JUST started paying off my student loans two months ago...I could've deferred until I'm done with school, but I decided not to.

Since I just started, I'm in the 26-50K category, but I'll be below that very soon.

I have about a year left on my student loan payments (FINALLY!). Not sure of the exact balance as I have it automatically deducted from my bank account.

All other debt is joint with DH. We have credit card debt (a lot, but a lot LESS than it was right after we got married) and a car payment.

My friend though - she's a doctor and her DH is a laywer. They owe about 250K on student loans together, plus lots on CCs too. Just ONE of their student loan payments is more than my rent!

we dont have student loans as we both had scholarships to college, but we have cc: debt. we're trying to figure out how to manage it more effectively.
