Cupcake frosting recipe?
Anyone have a recipe for a more "gourmet" frosting?
Something that when I put it on the cupcakes, they look like this.

Re: Cupcake frosting recipe?
Really *most* frostings can be piped onto a cupcake like that. It really just depends on the consistency. The icing can't be too runny, like the stuff you get in a can. Wilton has a very simple, very delicious buttercream recipe and it always comes out perfectly for piping. To get this effect, you'd fit a piping bag with a large round tip, you can pick them up at Michael's, or a decorative tip if you'd prefer. Then fill with icing and go crazy! lol!

Actually, I have that Wilton recipe! Just didn't think it would look like this when finished.
I'll have to give it a try!

Re: Cupcake frosting recipe?
You can definitely make icing look like that. It's all about the consistency of the icing and using a bag with a tip fitted on the end. You can whip your icing before using it - just quickly take a hand blender to incoporate some air into it and it gives it a smoother, fluffier texture. Personally, I like using a Swiss Meringue Buttercream which always comes out fluffy and light and is great on everything.

It's so much easier than it looks. Actually, I find piping it like this is EASIER than trying to frost them with a butter knife. This is why I love doing cupcakes! lol! So simple!
ETA: Just wanted to show you this photo, too. It's what kind of tips you can use to get different frosting effects. I've got this one pinned!

ETA: ACK! Sorry it's huge, at least you can reeeeeeeaaaallllyyyy see the design!
