Damp basement

My basement is a mess and has started getting water in it when it rains. Any recommendations on who to call? Someone mentioned looking into French drains but I'm out of my element here and don't know any companies.

Damp basement

Is your basement finished? Can you see where its damp?
I would look into sealing windows/doors. I would drylock the walls as well. We were going to pay a guy to drylock the walls but its nothing special that you can't get from lowes/hope depot. Between that and address my water issue I had outside, I have not had a water problem sense.

Call Vulcan waterproofing... We were planning on doing a French drain but ended up moving. Anyway, they were extremely fair in pricing and were willing in negotiate with me.

No, unfinished and and we know the spots. I'll look into dry lock. Thank you.

Thank you. We want to put the house on the market in the next 24 months and this is one of the last items on the list.

Double check the window to make sure that they are securely closed and locked. I had water issues a few years ago during rain storms. As it turned out, one of the windows was slightly ajar. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Damp basement

we had major water in the basement issues when we first bought our house. we did a whole bunch of things to make sure we were fixing the problem. we wanted to refinish it. things we did: pinpoint exactly where the water is coming in (for us it was a basement window), reroute the gutters further away from the house, regraded one side of the house to keep water running away from the house, installed a french drain and sump pump, sealed the concrete walls and floors.

We got estimates from a few companies and ultimately went with Home Healthy Homes. HHH came as a rec from another LIFer. They put in a french drain and sump pump for us. Five years later and our basement is still dry.

Check all your gutters. We had a small issue this summer and turns out that birds clogged all our gutters with nests. We realized it and cleaned them all out and no more issues.

Disclaimer: We actually waited until nesting season was over to remove the nests.

No birds were harmed in this sequence of events

We actually waited on entire summer once to put on our AC because birds made a huge nest in the AC cover and we felt bad so we left it and suffered in the heat Chat Icon
