Dark wood furniture ok for boy or girl?

I feel like if we have a girl, I would like white furniture, but it's more practical to go dark so we can reuse it for a boy... Or vice versa.

Actually, do people use white furniture for boys?

What are you choosing for your baby?

Im having twins and I don't know the sexes yet but regardless we are doing dark wood for both babies Chat Icon

ETA: I just feel like it matches my whole house better and its more practical since most cribs are now convertible to full beds.

Re: Dark wood furniture ok for boy or girl?

I'm kind of in your boat.

I always loved antique white for a Chat Icon but don't personally care for it for a Chat Icon .

We found out we were having a Chat Icon and DH and I decided to choose a set that could be used for both.

I like the idea of the child growing with the bedding set, but chances are when they are a little older they'll have their own personality and I'd rather bring them and let them choose something then.

I'm going with a Cherry set from JCPenny. It's kind of throwing off my Chat Icon decor....which is stressing me a little, but I think we made the right decision for us.

For me I just like the look of dark wood better. It goes better with the overall decor of our house.

It's definitely gender neutral which is another reason we went for it!

I knew what I was having for DD and we went with black. I wanted dark and the only dark for that set was black. If I had to do it again I would go with a dark stain instead of black.

I love dark woods and all of our furniture in the house is dark.

I actually posted this question earlier this week and from the responses I think it has more to do with the design of the furniture instead of the color.

I think dark wood is more neutral than white. I do love white for either baby boys or girls but then if you have a convertible crib and want to use it later as a bed, I dont think it works for say, toddler boys or elementary school age boys.
We got dark wood for DD and it looks super cute with her pink and green bedding.

I have a girl and a boy and they both have dark furniture in their rooms.

I say it's okay for either.

We are using my childhood furniture which is white and we got a dark cherry wood crib.
We are having a girl, but if it were a boy we would have done the same.

I'm having a boy and doing white furniture.

The rest of our place, everything is dark wood...I wanted to switch it up..plus I personally prefer light furniture for babies/kids.

Re: Dark wood furniture ok for boy or girl?

I want a dark cherry or espresso furniture regardless of the sex. I feel like it's cozier and make bedding colors pop a little more. Also, I had white furniture as a little girl until I left home, and I hated it! So I wouldn't personally get white for a girl.
