Daughter having issue with (ex) friend
If your child is having a problem with another student and you are good friends with the other mother, do you talk to the mom or go to the teacher? I kind of torn because I want to stay out of it...
The other girl is a bit of an Eddie Haskell and is telling other kids that my daughter is "bullying" her and is making things up and or exaggerating past situations.

I would talk to the mom, and I have done just that in the past! Nipped the issue in the bud

I would speak to the mom - no need to get the teacher involved, especially since you are good friends.

Re: Daughter having issue with (ex) friend
Tough one. Depends on how the mother is and honestly you might not know until you talk to her. I had this situation once with DD and once with DS. DS's friend the mom was great, acknowledged the issue, talked to the kid and nipped it in the bud. We are all still close, great friends. DD's friend not so much. The mom acknowledged the behavior in our initial conversation but then did nothing to remedy it even when it happened right in front of her face and just created distance between the girls and us. Sadly, this was a life long friend. Now we are no long close. It was for the best though because the child was being very mean to my daughter. Actually, the meanest any child has ever been. And my daughter learned a powerful life lesson. Sad that it had to happen at 6.

Wow that is so awful of the mother, I guess that is where the kid gets it from. She is going to feel like an idiot if the kids become friends again in the future. Kids change their minds all the time on who they like and who they don't. I just teach my DD to be kind to all and ignore the mean ones. You can't change others behaviors and unfortunately it's a lesson all kids need to learn.
