Daycare
I am just curious....I am not pregnant yet but doing my research,,,,would you mind sharing with me what moms that work do in regards to daycare? And how much $$ a five day 7:30-3:30 daycare would cost? TIA

Re: Daycare
DS goes to a place that is a nationwide chain. When he was an infant, the cost was $315 a week, but this place also provided formula. At 18months, the price decreased to $280. This is for full time daycare, 5 days a week. The price decreases again when he gets to the 2.5 year-oldroom, but I don't know what the drop is there. Some companies offer a discount if you go to a particular daycare facility--both mine and my DHs companies do, so ask.

Re: Daycare
I happend to have the price sheet in front of me at work. Our place is $320 a week for M-F, 8am-6pm. They don't do part time for infants, only toddlers (18 months +). Also, if you were going to drop off at 7:30, you would have to pay for early drop off, which is another $34 per week.
The rates for toddler are $295 per week for full time and $283 for part time (8am - 3 pm)and you would still have to pay for the early drop off.

Re: Daycare
It's all gonna depend on the place. Mine is 7am-6pm, so you wouldn't have to pay for the early drop off. That was one of our problems when finding a daycare, was finding one we like that could accomodate our hours without having to pay more.
Ask what they supply. There are some places that provide formula, diapers or baby food, and that helps offset the cost. DS got formula and baby food there. Now as a toddler, he gets breakfast, lunch and a snack. We are not allowed to bring any of our own food in for allergy and health reasons, so if you want to make sure your child eats only organic or other specific diet, you may need a doctors note or have to look elsewhere.
As pp poster said, there is no part-time for less than 18 months at out place. And even when older, 4 days a week is still full price. 3 days a week isn't much cheaper.
