Daycare
I know this has been asked 10000 times before but .... since this isnt The Bump, i figured i wont get yelled at for asking it again :)
We recently found out that we may be in the market for a day care- DW got a promotion that may or may not affect our decision for her to stay home eventually. So, we are going to look now and decide later.
1) What questions should I ask a Daycare facility? I am looking for pretty basic questions, we will also "feel" them out.
2) Anyone have recommendations between Riverhead & Bohemia? (we go opposite ways to work so either direction from our house would be OK but we dont want to go out of the way by more than 10 mins or so)
TIA!

Re: Daycare
No recs (I'm in a different area)...
Questions include:
Teacher to kid ratio
Sick "policy": essentially, what they do when kid is coughing vs febrile (more lax places are OK with coughing kids).
Typical kiddie schedule
Outdoor areas (more important with bigger kids)
Do they have video streams? Moms who take pics?
Honestly, I think the "feel" is the most important thing

Daycare
No recs cause I'm further west but IMO you shouldn't even need to ask questions. A good daycare will tell you anything you need to know.
Ratios are set by the state and you can go online and search them. Certain daycare's are allowed by the state to administer meds so if that is a concern you can ask them that.
I soul ask about security if they don't tell you.
but IMO if they don't offer the info up during the visit about everything it would be a con for me.

We have to use a code to go in and out. We are not supposed to hold door for other parents. When we have someone else pick up we have to fill out a sheet and they have to provide a drivers license etc.
Who will be in the center outside of employees - cleaning people etc.
