Daycare Moms - Please offer any advice
Every morning my 2 year old daughter pleads with me not to send her to daycare. She says, "mommy, we go to park" "i stay with mama." It totally breaks my heart and ruins my day, especially when I want to be home with her, but need to work right not for health insurance. When I drop her off she clings to my leg, screams and throws herself at the door when I leave. She has been attending daycare since 7 months old and she still isnt used to the drop off? Do you think something is going wrong at daycare? Do you have any advice to make it easier? TIA

First off
That would break my heart too. Mason is 12 mons and been going since he was 3 months. He seems very happy there and crawls away to play or go to a teacher when I get there
Have you talked to her about daycare and what they do? Have you asked about her friends and teachers and what makes her happy there and what makes her sad?
Maybe talk to her teacher or Director. Call during the day and ask what happens after you leave
Since Mason is so young I wish I could ask him what he does so I just have to talk to the teachers and of course I'd love his opinion

When this happens with me, I usually call the Daycare as I am driving to work or when I get there and ask if she is okay. Always, do they say she calmed down just a few minutes after you left. I know it breaks your heart....maybe call the daycare afterwards.

i agree with this - some days my ds is good sometimes he cries but when he does cry they say it ends as soon as i get to my car. maybe one of the providers can be there during dropoff and try to distract her

Thanks for the advice. I am always told that she calms down after a few minutes when I leave, but I feel like she shouldnt be in daycare is she hasnt become accustomed to the drop off.

Sounds like separation anxiety. DD has been doing this lately (she's 2.5) before I leave for work. Her routine hasn't changed at all since 6 months old, but she's a little more clingy.

Re: Daycare Moms - Please offer any advice
it is normal, my dd went through it too (we go to in home care which is a bit different though)...
As long as she calms down quickly, I would leave her in there
ALL kids would rather be with their parents, but they adjust

Re: Daycare Moms - Please offer any advice
I think it's the age.
I took DD out of daycare because I stopped working. But she was just turning 2 when I took her out and started crying when I would drop her off. I also noticed, now when DH goes to work, she tells me how much she misses him throughout the day.
I would talk to the teacher and see how she is after you leave.
I hope it gets better.

Re: Daycare Moms - Please offer any advice
DS will be 3 yrs old next month and has been in daycare since he was 13 weeks old. He still, to this day, has days every once ina while when he does not want me or DH to leave him when we drop him off. Usually it's on a Monday or after a few days off, when he's been with us at home. There are days when it's just some random day of the week when it happens. I usually call a few minutes after I leave to check on him and always he's fine within a few minutes of us leaving. I truly do think it's the age and it's a phase which she will outgrow. I know it's hard.
