DD Chipped her Tooth - what can I do???

I am a bad mommy - well, actually I blame it on DH. While I was nursing the baby at 5am last week, my dd got up and while my DH was watching her, she fell off our bed. She was crying and scraped her nose a bit. A few days later I noticed she had a tiny chip in her front tooth. Then today after her nap, I noticed that it chipped ALOT more. I'm talking a 15 month old with a snaggle tooth. MY POOR BABY!! Is there anything a dentist could do at this point? I know they're only baby teeth but I just keep imagining her Christmas pics and school pics with a huge chipped tooth for the next 5 years...did I mention she has her mommy's big front teeth? HELP!!

THey could probably fill/reshape or cap it (i dont know what exactly they do) but I dont know how that would work with a 15 month old. Go see a ped dentist.

Poor DD. I would definitley take her to a pediatric dentist. The tooth may become discolored over time because of it being chipped.

Re: DD Chipped her Tooth - what can I do???

How bad is it ? I worked for an Endodontist for 10 yrs (root canal)
in Great Neck I know what will happen

1st Is she in pain ?
If not thats good usually the nerve will repair its self if its not exposed, If the tooth turns black then this is a sign on trama on the tooth also if you see a little pimple on the top of the gum by the tooth this is a fissula which is a pimple to release any infection due to the hit so her face wont get swolllen

I would call a Dentist a PEDO dentist I have agreat one in Queens and explain what happen and see what they say .

I have a quick story my DS feel and hit his front tooth took him to the ER b/c the DDS was closed they took xrays and told me that I had to pull it right there, right now told then no way I would like a 2nd opinion thank god I said that Took him to the DDS the next day and the DDS Told me there is a crack in the tooth but it didnt discolor or there is no fissula so He didnt want to pull it not yet, he told me to keep an eye out for the symptoms i told you anyway 6 months later no pain, symptons and DS still has his front tooth if I would of listened to the intern at the hospital my son would be tooth less.

Always go for a 2nd opinion regardless ..
Let me know how you make out

Thanks for the info - I think she is in a little bit of pain - I offered her an apple after dinner which she usually loves and she tried to take a bite but kind of shrunk back and only chewed on the other side of her mouth. I called my ped and he recommended a dentist right around the corner - they open at noon tomorrow so I'll see if they can fit me in and and will try to determine if Cam's tooth really does hurt. Never a dull moment. I will also check for a fissula tomorrow morning. Do you know if they can file it or cap it? I feel sooooo bad!

Oh I feel for you - best of luck tomorrow.

My son Michael has a chipped top tooth, but it just drew that way I think,
The way it is chipped he would have had to fall pretty hard and I can't imagine not noticing right away, it just gets more noticable as it gets bigger,
but you never see it in pics yet.

When I go back the dentist myself I will ask about it, but this is probaby just me being vain about his appreance. Lucky all he has is a chipped tooth!

let us know what happens,
