DD has a bad diaper rash
it came out of no where. It looks like a big burn. I just googled "diaper rash that looks like a burn" and the first few things that came up were "call the ped asap" ?????? Should I really call the ped right now?
Also, I was assuming it was from the little bit of diarrhea she has had today (that is the only symptom, no fever and is acting and eating fine)

Re: DD has a bad diaper rash
Do you have Triple Paste? I'd try that over night and if it is still bad in the am call the doctor

Re: DD has a bad diaper rash
My DS just got over a bad one after being on antibiotics, I called ped and they put him on Florastore (digestion OTC to balance acid) and got Lotrium ointment (in footcare aisle) and went away in two days. If not sure what brought it on, maybe call ped tomorrow and ask, may not have to go in, may just give advise over the phone.

Re: DD has a bad diaper rash
If it is a yeast type of diaper rash it wont go away with regular diaper cream...
I would try coating her up really good and see if you there is any improvement.
I use Maalox as my diaper rash ointment of choice. It clears it up PDQ...

Re: DD has a bad diaper rash
Is it a red, raised rash? When my DD had one liked that I was told to mix equal parts Desitin, Lotrimin, Maalox, and cortisone. It worked like a charm. I used 1 TBSP of each and kept it in a lidded container.

Re: DD has a bad diaper rash
Kristin.... Kristina just got over a BAD one... I mean - this thing was ridiculous.... it was bleeding
I used Trip Paste and Butt Paste alternating.
But in the beginning this thing was so bad (it started out with the stomach virus that I had posted about) the ped @ Winthrop prescribed Bactroban and Nystatin and the combination of the 2 sealed up the bleeding part w/i a day... they were a Godsend.
I would use the Trip Paste and/or the Butt Paste - the butt paste actually has more zinc oxide in it 16% oxide to TP having 12% oxide - and see if that helps her at all.
Also, make sure to wipe Nina with a sensitive wipe or a wipe that has no alcohol in it!
