DD has a double ear infection and I had no idea
My DD had a clear runny nose for 2 weeks, and showed no other signs of being sick at all until sat. on sat, i heard her cough a little and it sounded like her chest was congested. i was also sick, so assumed she had a minor cold. she seemed perfectly 100% happy and herself and the cough wasnt frequent. yesterday i was getting worse so was going to the dr myself, when I heard her cough and it sounded deeper. so, i took her in just to be on the safe side, and she apparently has a double ear infection and the right side is pretty bad. i honestly had no clue---was totally shocked. i always thought babies would get cranky or at least not be themself and tug at their ear. she showed no signs at all! i have to stay on top of all her minor symptoms in the future!

Re: DD has a double ear infection and I had no idea
The same thing happened with my son last week. we were all sick DS DH and myself DH & I got better but DS still had a runny nose and cough after a week so I took him in and he had a double ear infection too... I never thought of it either because even though he was sick DS was still the happiest baby ever. he never pulled on his ears or anything.

Re: DD has a double ear infection and I had no idea
You are not alone with this.
Pretty much every time DS has had an ear infection, I had no indication that he had one. THe only exception to that was the time he had fluid coming out of his ear, but every other time, he had no symptoms.
Now for a grown man, completely different... had to take DH to the emergency room because he was in so much pain!
Go figure... a toddler handles ear infections better than a grown man!
Hope DD feels better soon!

Re: DD has a double ear infection and I had no idea
I'm dealing with this right now. I took my DS in to get checked and found out he had a double ear infection I felt awful but I had no idea and the runny nose, cough, etc I guess was associated with the ear infection

Re: DD has a double ear infection and I had no idea
DS had the same thing last year. Felt like the worse mom in the world b/c I didn't know my child was sick. He ate, played, slept...no fever.
This year he had a little cough, DH was getting concerned so we took him again - double ear infection AND bronchitis. It didn't sound like anything to be concerned about.
When it finally cleared up, DS let the doc look into his ears. I guess I'll have to tug on his ears once a week to see his reaction

Re: DD has a double ear infection and I had no idea
AJ does that.
Perfectly happy and content and not even coughing. No fever, no crankiness, no indication in anyway. BAM! double ear infection
I feel so stupid when i find out.
Last time I took her in for a totally unrelated reason and when they did the normal check of the ears they said she has such bad infections in both sides I had to use a totally new antibiotic!
