Re: Death at LI Walmart after Stampede

Its so SICK that someone would take out a phone and video this! and I also think its sick that a reputable news website posted it!! That is someone's family member laying there dying!!!
As for the Officer not doing mouth to mouth, I believe they are trained and need to use a device to protect themselves. I wouldn't be so quick to judge him doing cpr standing, sitting with or without mouth to mouth unless I was there. None of us were there and were basing our judgment off a cell phone video. REAL reliable.
for his family, and hopefully they are spared from seeing this SICK video of their family members last minutes
that too. I watched it and now feel badly. If that were my family memeber? I would be livid.

And even more horrifying is that while the officers were giving mouth to mouth these freakin' ANIMALS were continuing to shop and bump into the people who were trying to help him.
This story absolutely infuriates me and disgusts me.

I agree I wouldn't be able to keep them. I would donate them or something.
I can't even fully understand this whole thing. It seems unreal to me that this would happen in this day and age.

This is absolutely vile and disgusting, all to buy gifts they likely can't afford anyway....it's terrible.

If they have video surveillance everyone who trampled him should be charged. How do you not know there is a person underneath your feet
I am sick to my stomach reading this what a horrific way to die

I think theres a LOT of blame here. No one thing. These people are saving a LOT of money...not $5, not $20. some of these big items are hundreds of dollars off.
This economy is making people crazy...their money is so valuable, more now then ever...that they are seeing nothing but that money and the end prize.
Then just look at how much commecialism plays into everything we see, its about the TV's, the Radios, the games. It never ends.
I honestly think that this type of thing is gonna get WORSE not better.
Because no one, not individuals, not corporations, not Government wants to take any responsibility for how we have come to behave and act this way.
All I can think about is that poor mans family
Listen I shop Black Friday. I have a limited budget and I get more then I could ever buy by doing this, but I would love to just see the prices lowered thru out the season to compensate. There has to be small changes ....not sure what they could be though.
I think you bring up some good points. I am not disagreeing with you but...how about if they can't really afford to give out gifts (to the point that they are going to KILL someone to get a sale item on a NON NECESSITY no less), not giving them? I probably have more $ than all of them put together and we told our family no gifts this year. But maybe that's why I have $. This is why the world is in the state it's in, people want what they want asap and they don't care HOW they get it.
That poor poor man. These people should be charged for sure if they can get a hold of them.

Re: Death at LI Walmart after Stampede
Until ALL of the discount stores agree to stop the madness that is "black Friday" these tragediues will unfortunately continue to happen.
DH works for a retail co. and is pertified of hearing about this in one of their stores.
I don't shop today -- there is not enough $$ in the world that would make it worth it for me to deal with the crowds.
Capitalism at it's best....or should I say worst???
ITA with Goobster -- if you can't afford it, just don't buy it!!

Re: Death at LI Walmart after Stampede
I heard about this earlier and I just thought the person was injured. Now I find that he was pronounced dead?! This is very distubing to me. I feel so much sorrow right now and tears are rolling down my face. What the heck is going on with most people now a days?! A materialistic purchase over a person's life?! SICKENING!

On the news last night, they also said the police were getting pushed and shoved as they were trying to help that poor man.

Re: Death at LI Walmart after Stampede
I have never shopped on Black Friday, but I planned on trying it once. After hearing this, I want no part of such despicable behavior that other people display. How do I know I wont' be the one dead next year? Sooo not worth it!

Your 100% right. But I think your in the minority in really grasping the big picture. I dont think many can, and this is what results. The whole idea of Black Friday is ridiculous in itself. I buy into it, and shop myself, so I may be part of the problem, not the solution, but I know if they dont have any more left of "What I want" I just move on, doesnt upset me really, but some people mentalities are just different.
I do think its gonna get worse.

People will never accept this ...obviously the credit crisis proves this. So there has to be something else done. I dont know what. Maybe the stores will accept the resonsibility and end this...take a stand, but then again, they are in crisis too.
So so sad regardless.

Re: Death at LI Walmart after Stampede
i am utterly horrified by what happened at walmart.
i wonder how they plan on finding the people who did it. i know they are looking at the pictures and video. maybe they should look at the receipts to find out who bought stuff that early and then question them?

I saw on the news last night that his mother was flying up from Haiti last night.
I turned to DH and said "great, they're from Haiti... that country is such a cluster eff hell hole. her life must be so hard already just living in a place like that. and now his poor mother has her son killed because animals wanted to be the first to get cheap gifts"

I'm glad there's video. It's worth granting immunity to the guy who took it to try to bring the rest up on manslaughter charges,,,, Make an example of 'em and vindicate this poor victim.
