Detergent for Front Load Washers
We are getting our new washer/dryer delivered on Friday and we still have two bottles of detergent from our top loader, has anyone used regular detergent in their front loaders? Also, the only detergent I've seen that has the "he" on it is tide, what are our options?
TIA

Re: Detergent for Front Load Washers
it doesn't have to say "he" - it just needs to say "ultra concentrated" - it's the same thing. tide is great but you'll save a LOT of money getting all or purex, and IMO, they work just as well.
ETA: i wouldn't use regular detergent, i wouldn't take the chance, but that's just me.

Re: Detergent for Front Load Washers
i would definitely get the HE detergent- i wouldn't want to risk it with a brand new washer. ( i think they say because the HE machines use less water, you need the HE detergent that creates less suds). i think ALL also makes an HE detergent.

Re: Detergent for Front Load Washers
I have an ultra concentrated detergent now, but it doesn't say 'he' on it, so I wasn't sure if I could use it (2x concentrated)

I totally agree, with a new washer why risk it with a detergent that doesn't have the HE? You'll void any warranty on it because you didn't use the recommended detergent.
Right now we are using Gain (HE). We got it at Wal-Mart or Target. I think they are all starting to make it. You just have to look around on the shelves.

Re: Detergent for Front Load Washers
There was a thread on this last week. A few people said that Tide didn't make their clothes smell as fresh. I am going to use All "he" or preferably an organic one if it's not too expensive.

Tide HE made my towels smell like piss... At the time we had very hard water not like the water you all have here...

We haven't liked the smell of anything until we found the Gain.

I use All - their regular detergent says on the container that it can be used when HE is called for. That it is the same.

Im pretty sure that this is NOT correct. HE is a totally different formula while ultra-concentrated is just that.... less water.

Re: Detergent for Front Load Washers
read your manual also - our front loader only likes powder - and it uses only one tablespoon of HE detergent
some need less than a scoop so skim the manual for what to use

Re: Detergent for Front Load Washers
My front loader manual says to use HE and thats just what I use. I always used Tide HE.. because I shop at BJ's and thats what they have.
I always over dose on fabric softner though so everything smells pretty

Pretty much all brands now have HE detergent. Iuse anybrand that is on sale, but have never used regular detergent in my Front loaders. I have used HE Arm & Hammer, Wisk, Tide, and again, I think they all make HE now.
