Detergent question?
While I was registering with my sister, she wanted me to put laundry detergent on my registry. She said I have to use Dreft only. Well I have a HE washing machine and I don't think Dreft makes HE detergent. I saw that they had Tide on the shelf as well. Of course it was Tide Free with no perfumes or dyes. I love Tide, so I would like to buy this. Especially since it comes in HE. Anyone use anything instead of Dreft?

Dreft is expensive. You dont HAVE to use it. I plan to use ALL free & clear. I plan to wash all of our laundry with this.

Re: Detergent question?
I bought a huge container of Dreft when my dd was born 18 months ago...we're still working on it...I love the way it smells, but honestly, I find that my ALL free and clear cleans better, so once that is done, we are switching over to ALL f/c for the kids too...my dd hasn't had any problems with things that I have washed in ALL f/c as opposed to the Dreft

Re: Detergent question?
Does anyone know if they even make Dreft in HE?
I'm going to guess the Tide is okay to use. I would think they wouldn't put it on the BRU shelves if it wasn't.

Re: Detergent question?
Dreft is OK, but not the only game in town by any stretch. We have used any of the Free & Clear versions of detergent, including Sevent Generaton and BabyGanics.
DS has very sensitive skin, and all of them were fine for him and for his clothes.

Re: Detergent question?
Our pediatrician said that ANY detergent is fine, she said whatever you wash your clothes in is fine for the baby. IF the baby ends up having sensitive skin switch to a dye/perfume free variety.
We already use dye/perfume free because of my allergies so that is what the baby clothes will be washed in as well.

Thats good to hear!! I will just buy the tide dye and perfume free detergent, at least in the beginning.

Re: Detergent question?
if you use a regular detergent - you just use half a capful in HE washing machines.
Dave sells them for a living - he knows

Re: Detergent question?
This is good to know. We are considering getting a new HE washer and dryer before the baby comes and I was concerned about the detergent issue as well.

I wouldn't be concerned at all about the HE detergent. Almost every company makes HE now. I was just wondering if I could use something other then Dreft. I love my HE washer and Dryer.

Same here. My mom has all of the bedding and clothing right now though. She has Dreft and will probably wash the baby's stuff with that. After the baby is born, I plan to use All free and clear.
