THANK the Lord that the baby was found. That poor baby needs to be given to a loving family. To have the father bring it up is not good since he is an addcit and the mother apparently has problems of her own. I pray that this babies life gets straightend out.

Don't want to wound hearless but I don't get why your dh would be so upset that YOUR child was safe as this baby wasn't kidnapped.
Even though she did something horrible by leaving her child, she did it at a place that she KNEW they knew her and the father of the baby.

i am so happy the baby is safe and sound! omg! i've been thinking about this poor boy since i read your original post earlier today. i'm so glad the baby's doing fine. now i feel bad that his parents as individuals aren't doing so well. i do hope this boy, if he becomes a foster child, becomes adopted by loving parents.

Even though she did something horrible by leaving her child, she did it at a place that she KNEW they knew her and the father of the baby.
The mother did not leave her child at a bodega knowing that he would be returned safely to his father. She left him there. I hope that in the back of her mind she felt that she wasnt putting him in as much danger as she would be just putting him in some random place - but still, she LEFT him there and then went to work, where she stayed for hours before breaking down. When all of this happened - DH and his coworkers didnt know ANYTHING - all they knew was that the police had arrested her - the precinct in her neighborhood had no record of an abandoned baby, and no one knew where this child was. Thank god the baby is ok - but DH and his coworkers were beside themselves dealing with this. I mean, just the thought of it made me cry - I cant imagine hearing the mom tell you this herself.

That is the law (the safe haven law) I was thinking of, I had no idea there was an age limit. I am very sad for the baby. I really hopre things get situated, what I mean is I really hope the mom gets whatever help she needs, and the baby gets the care it deserves.

I am glad the baby was found and is safe.
1. A child can not be legally adopted in NYS until both parents rights have been terminated. This has not occured and there is a law ASFA (Adoption and Safe Families Act) which basically allots a specified time frame for parents to basically follow a service plan and get their acts together so that they can be reunified with their child before TPR can even be discussed.
2. This woman obviously is overwhelmed in her current condition and may not have made the best parental decision by leaving her son in a bodega. However, we are all human and worthy of receiving help and assistance. So she deserves another chance. Sometimes, some single moms just need support and resources that can provide them with continued support so that they dont feel all alone.
3. This child deserves to be with his mother. Despite what she did, Im sure she loves him.
