dh was the same exact way, he used to tell me he was nervous since they are so tiny at that age. now that our children are older, he is very hands on and helps alot more.

Re: DH question for you ladies....
In the beginning DH wouldn't help, but it was out of fear. I think she was so little and he was afraid he would somehow "break" her. On the other hand I think he just didn't know what to do and he felt I knew what to do.
I think there were a few things that helped him along. I came down with the stomach flu and that forced him to take her. I also had him start to bathe her and put her to bed as his bonding time with her every night.
Now that's she older he's more hands on, but he still has not taken her for a full day without me. He's great at everything but crying. He can't handle it, it breaks his heart and he gets nervous. He can't get her down for naps, because she cries - but I sat with him this weekend and showed him what I do and he did it!! He was so proud of himself (and I was proud too)
I will be taking a day trip to nowhere soon or he'll always rely on me. He's a great dad, he just needs a confidence boost!!!

Re: DH question for you ladies....
Dh is pretty good. I still usually end up as the one to go to DD, but he will give me a break lots of times. Some weekend mornings he'll get her when she wakes up at 6:30 and let me sleep, especially when I've been up a few times during the night with her. The whole dinner thing is frustrating sometimes. It took a long time before we could actually "enjoy" a dinner together (eating at the same time.) DD always seemed to get fussy right when the food went on the table. Baby Einstein has helped with that.
