DH vent clean house
I am so annoyed right now at my dh. He always wants a clean house. We both work, but as a teacher I will be a stay at home mom for the summer. I started a new cleaning schedule and have been working insanely hard to get our whole house in order. So he says," why bother, forget it, its impossible." Seriously? I can't even believe him, especially because I know its not true. He just does not want to help out. Meanwhile he told me his friends are stopping by tomorrow
So I have halted all clean up andwill not let my kids pick up a thing . I am so fed up. I have been working for days to keep with the schedule and get/keep the house in order!
Right now my son's pjs are on the living room floor and there not getting picked up anytime soon.

Re: DH vent clean house
Just so I'm following this right - your DH wants a clean house but doesn't want to help you with it?
Is there any way you can get cleaning people to come in and do the heavy duty stuff once every two weeks, that way you just have light cleaning in between? We do this and it is a HUGE help!

Re: DH vent clean house
UGH!! I know what you mean. DH makes comments when the house isn't as clean as he'd like it, but lately hasn't been helping much. I've learned that having a clean house isn't the most important thing in the world. Sometimes we just have to let it go

Thanks for understanding
That's the thing. My dh often helps, but it seems like the more I do, the less he does, when we both need to put in full effort. For example, while I was laid up, he did all the dishes. Now I am back on my feet and hstarted emptying the dishwasher again...so what happens? He completely stops doing dishes. I have a slightly shorter work day than him, so I will do a little more, than him anyway. But he needs to pitch in, especially since he is the neat freak. I could definately be a slob if I let myself. Mess does not bother me as much as him. So why am I trying so hard? We have two kids so I do not expect a perfect house.
I hate that he did not appreciate all the things I did this week. Suddenly a clean house is not important?
I know I am lucky that he helps at all and some people do not have that, but that is the way I am. We have always been a team. I am just annoyed today, because I am trying so hard.

Actually, I do have cleaning people so my house is not crazy behind or anything. But that's the thing, I will give up the cleaning people for the summer, because we are short of funds while I am not working. So I am trying to get on a schedule and have everything pristine for the start of summer, because I know that if I do not stay on top of this my house will be the ultimate chaos by September.
Over the summer since I am home, I will definately do the majority of the household chores. BUT I would ike him to at least appreciate what I do and chip in as much as necessary.
Thanks for your response.

Re: DH vent clean house
I'm in the same boat.
Since I've been home I've been trying to keep the house pristine. But every once and a while things will fall out of place.
DH told me the other night that he would like the house to look as if we were having company every day. I laughed in his face.
I guess I'm lucky I don't live with a slob. But I am not a house keeper. And I have a 2 year old to keep busy. Life is too short for everything to be perfect all of the time.

Re: DH vent clean house
I would never expect my house to stay pristine, but I was hoping to have it that way June 25 For the day...until the kids get home from school that day and then all bets are off. Summer is always crazy for me so I do not want to start out behind.
My dh apologized and took me to a french restaurant so I guess its all good!
