Re: DH's 30th bday? Party or no?

I think you should go for it! Too funny that G assumes you're planning something . I know that I would never throw Joe one, but that's just because he HATES any celebration directed towards him, but I know G would love something. I don't know where you could do something though. Depending on how many guests, you're more than welcome to have something here
That is so sweet of you, thank you! ETA: I was so surprised he did want one! He is such a kid sometimes. I joked around about havinh a bowling party.

Hey Beth, you could do it our house if you like. I think at the October Party we had about 30 -35 people.
You know we love entertaining!
Gregg loves poker, you could do a poker, cocktails, and hors D' oeuvres party?
Then all you would have to pay for is food and the drinks. No site fee.
Tara you are so generous, thank you!
And you should charge a site fee...Maybe you could quit your job!

Re: DH's 30th bday? Party or no?
I threw a surprise party for my DH's 30th last year and then he planned one for me. I would definately say plan something. A resteraunt or bar would be easiest.

Re: DH's 30th bday? Party or no?
Since my Dh's birthday is in the summer, I did his at Eisenhower park. We live in a one bedroom co-op, so I couldn't do it there. Plus, I don't have a ton of $$$ to throw it at a restaurant for a formal sit down dinner. We had a great time and it was so easy to surprise him. He thought he was going to a batting range with his cousin. I sure got him!!!

See, we are in the exact same situation with a one bedroom condo...It really stinks that his bday is in Dec. and we can't do a park.

Re: DH's 30th bday? Party or no?
i threw a suprise party for my DH 30th. He loves the yankees so I took DH and 30 of our friends and family (siblings/cousins) to a saturday afternoon game. I got a party bus to bring everyone in and we tailgated before the game. We had a great time. I didn't think it was really expensive. We sat in group seating in the bleachers and the tickets were $12 each. Then the bus was $800 ...and the food.... i got heros and salads from the deli and we did hot dogs there. I brought plenty of beer and soda. I think all said and done its was probably about $1500.

Re: DH's 30th bday? Party or no?
my DH is a big party person so i was planning a big blowout. but for his 30th he said he didnt want anything more than our usual having ppl over and going out. his reasoning was that if our families were there, he'd have to entertain and he didnt want that. so i honored his wishes and then spent that $$ on a mets season ticket package (tues/fri games). he said it was his dream come true

Re: DH's 30th bday? Party or no?
This has been stressing me out...I am still debating what to do for my dh...I feel like I have to do something...so, it's either going to be a small gathering at a restaurant or maybe I will plan a vacation. If I do the vacation thing, I am going to see if any of my friends/his friends want to join us...

A bowling party would be perfect! You could rent the whole place out, put bumpers up, everybody could have hot dogs and french fries, and you could even make sure he gets one of the bowling pin trophies with his age on it
