His Blackberry, which he uses for work. He will be driving with 1 hand and sending an email with the other, or I'll be telling him something and he is not listening to me at all because his eyes are glued to it ...It drives me crazy!

I taped it and I'm watching it tonight. I guess I'm the one who is obsessed!

As for DH, he obsesses about everything else, and I mean EVERYTHING!! Whether it's money or a crooked picture on the wall, he is up all night thinking about it.

Re: DH's Obsession!!!

There is nothing wrong to having an obsession. I think everyone needs one.

I kinda feel bad for my DW. She has no "real hobby"... so she finds herself being bored quite often when I am not around.

uhmm.. obssession and hobby are two VERY different things... hobby is something that you enjoy doing.. an obssession is you can't live without doing this things, from the minute you wake up till the minute you go to sleep and all you can think about is doing this thing.. and when you are not doing it, you go online to chat about it... Obsession is an opinion IMO.

One person's "hobby" can be another person's "obsession".

I always feel bad for people who dont' have a "hobby" or "obsession." I have a few and so does DH. My sister, on the other hand has none and she never knows what to do with herself.

I guess I go by the actual definitions of the two words.

I think that having passion for something and being obsessed with something are two different things. I know that DH is passionate about his car - BUT - he is crazy over it too. I mean he will think about the fact that he doesn't have it in a garage ALL day long. He will think of things he can do to it so that it doesn't get destroyed. It eats at him and drives US both crazy.

I understand that he loves the car and it's a nice thing to have but to me - I feel like he is ALWAYS worrying about it.
ETA - I do think that everyone should have something that they are passionate about or have some sort of hobby....I just feel that it becomes an obsession when it is taken to the next level.

Again... that is your "opinion" on the subject.

Re: DH's Obsession!!!

MY FH has a love affair with his collectible car. Two years ago when we were renovating the house - I went without heat in winter months - - but the car was warm with two portable heaters in the garage (which I don't have a key to).

I'm fine with it though - it makes him so happy! Chat Icon

He's also slightly obsessed with his collectible items - ranging from die cast cars/quads/dirt bikes - - to anything Star Wars. We once had it all appraised (for insurance purposes) - and let's just say I could pay for my wedding twice over with what he's got collecting dust! Chat Icon

I know....it is so crazy! He says that if we EVER needed the money to pay for our childrens college some day that he will sell the car. I guess I am stuck with this obsession for the next 20 or so years.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Yep - FH says the same thing. Chat Icon Although I know he's planning on selling the car sometime within the next year or so and upgrading to a model year he's decided he likes more. Chat Icon

I told him that if I spent nearly as much money on 'stuff' as he does - we'd have our lights and heat turned off because there'd be no money left.

Oh well.....I do love Chat Icon some of the toys.....boats and jet skis are my favs!

we can't sell our pathfinder b/c he needs to tow the ATV around- so that makes 2 cars for him- the mustang has a garage spot for the winter at $300 bucks a month- while I freeze every night walking blocks home from parking my car- and last night he actually called and asked me to go back out and buy him ice cream! ( I didn't go)

He wants a boat- but I said NO- not unitl we buy a house-
