diaper change at middle of the night feedings

do you change DC's diaper when you get up for a middle of the night feeding? i've been doing this, and DD will stay awake for an hour to two hours, so of course i get no sleep. last night for the first time i didn't change her during her 230 feeding and she fell right back asleep, but i felt guilty not changing her. she didn't seem the least bit uncomfortable. what does everyone else do?

we always did with ds.. he would wake up until we invested in the wipe warmer which i know alot of people say is a waste.. but we were able to quickly change him that way... and the cold would otherwise wake him up

we always change the diaper before the feeding.

for all her feedings... she never had middle of the night feedings, so i cant tell you if it will help her, but it makes sense...

I always change all the kids before each feeding and it doesnt seem to prevent them from falling back asleep after their feedings.

If DC was okay with it, I wouldn't change it unless there was poop. Think of all of the babies that sleep through the night, in general, and their diapers aren't changed. We started using Huggies Overnights as soon as we could and as soon as DD was of the age to stop pooping after every feeding.

I didn't change my DS for the same reason in the middle of the night, unless it was poop. He was never uncomfortable and NEVER had a rash.

After reading other posts, maybe try changing before a feeding...then the BM/formula will put DC back to sleep???

thanks everyone. i think i'll try changing her first then feeding her for now since she still has mostly poopy diapers.

unless there is poop in that diaper its not getting changed... no way!

I did with DS but I was BFing and he'd always fall asleep in the middle so the change was to wake him up a bit so that he'd take some more. Now he mainly sleeps through the night, but every once in a while he'll wake around 5 or 6, and I don't change him because I figure he usually goes through without complaining about his diaper and he's just fine. We never had an issue with him staying awake after middle of the night feedings.

Unless I absolutely HAVE to, I no longer change her during her middle of the night feeding. If I do, then I do it before the bottle, in the hopes that the bottle will get her back to sleep.

My daughter will be 3 weeks on Tue...but so far she does cry when hungry, wet, or poop...so we do change her in the middle of the night ...before her feedings usually and sometimes we have to change her after her feedings too..but usually she goes right back to sleep so we dont have that problem...are you feeding her with the lights on bright?

I change my ds halfway through the bottle since he is screaming to eat and I do not want to prolong the feeding by changing 1st

We always changed her during those feedings too - I changed her first and then gave the bottle.

We will giver her half the bottle and then burp her, change her diaper and then giver her the rest of the bottle and she is alseep by the end. It's been working well.

With DD #2 - I would change her diaper than reswaddle and feed her. She was always so good about going right back down to sleep.

I always changed DS before his feedings in the middle of the night with the lights off. Only a very dim night light. He would take his bottle and right back in his crib with no problem. And, if I could avoid using a wipe (if he only peed and his skin as dry) then it would help also.

When DD was a newborn, I changed her before the feeding, and would only change her after the feeding if she pooped during the feeding. When she was not as much a newborn, I only changed if her she pooped, which was rare during the night, so I never really changed her during the night. The few times FH got up with her, he always changed her, and then she would be wide awake and he would pass her off to me. I made him stop changing her unless it was poop.
