did anyone else see this last night in the sky?
DH and i saw this red flashing dot in the sky last night. At first i thought it was like a left over firework in the sky, but it didnt go away, then i said maybe mars or something, as we were talking it started to move and then disappear. I'm glad that DH saw it and that i wasn't loosing my mind. It was about 9ish. we are in wantagh. Than today i see posted on facebook someone else saw them.
just wondering if anyone here saw it too?

did anyone else see this last night in the sky?
Were they that big? If so, definitely not Mars. Mars was out last night but it just looks like a star that is slightly pinkish.

no they were smaller than that. like i said i thought maybe mars, it looked like mars from the last time i saw mars out, but then it moved and then completely disappeared.

OMG! my dh and i saw the same thing about a month ago in westhampton. looked like orange orbs in the sky moving quickly from south to north. It freaked us out. Def was not fireworks or planes or planets

they come in all different sizes..
ets: I saw something like that last night too, where I was it was definitely those lantern things.

a lot smaller. looked like a planet.

We saw them last night in Elmont. DH tried to record it on the flip but they were too small to play back in the video. DH called me outside so I wouldn't think he was crazy.

I didn't...but I had a nightmare about a UFO last night.
Weird.
It's also my biggest fear in life...alien abduction. I'm about ready to shit my drawers over here.

They are definitely the lanterns. I've seen them for a few years now on July 4th.

I saw it last night driving home from the Hamptons around 9pm. We were driving west on the LIE and I saw them on the south Shore. I chalked it up to fireworks as well but a few min later they were still there. weird dont know what it was. And I hate to kill the lantern buzz but it definitely was not a lantern. What I saw was miles away and it looked the same size as what the OP pic.

Sorry to disappoint those who don't want it to be, but definitely lanterns. They float up slowly, and sometimes erratically depending on the breeze, and obviously get smaller as they float up before disappearing/burning up. Took this at a friend's wedding, and is most definitely what you saw.

They are def lanterns.. saw them over rockaway and swore they were ufo's- freaked out an entire block until we were told they were doing a ceremony on the beach and sent up huge chinese lanterns.

We saw several in Lindenhurst. My 4 y/o DD and her 3 y/o friend knew right away - "It's like the lanterns in from Tangled!"
