did granola crunchy creep up on you re: parenting style?

Pre babies, far from granola crunchy...

I figured i would give bfing a try...lived by my stroller, stayed up all hours of night rocking to avoid having a little man in my bed.

3 years later...today, running around trader joes for organic rice, milk, and juice...wearing my baby after nursing her in the car, then changing her cloth diaper.Chat Icon

I just laughed. Never in a million years did I picture myself this type of parent.

I had a bjorn for josh, but never used a sling. My sister bought me the peanut shell. It is great!

I wouldn't say I am crunchy granola, but I BF'd DS for 16 months, and I couldn't live without my moby wrap for DD right now.

I am def. not crunchy granola. Far far from it actually. But, I do use the Bjorn with Tyler, and I swear by Organic Milk. If my kid ate I would do more organic foods also, but he doesn't eat so that takes care of that.

def getting crunchier by the day!
i kinda knew i would always breastfeed. once i had dd i HAD to breastfeed. she is 14 months and i never thought i would be breastfeeding after a year.

i am super anal about food i buy for my household and i made all of dd's babyfood.

and maybe for future baby #2 i will look into clothe diapering. i know nothing about it

Chat Icon I blame it on having a lot of time on my hands.

I never in a million years thought i would bf beyond 6 months, let alone 18 months.

someone asked me how long i would nurse jessie...i said i am going to go to 2 this time. the lady almost fell over. i could not believe i actually said those words!

My DH says his family considers me "granola" because I had epi-free deliveries and I BF my babies for months on end Chat Icon Chat Icon I don't think I am by any means - but I guess it's not an insult so whatever Chat Icon

Not crunchy or granola at all Chat Icon well, aside from BFing. I don't even think it's an issue of time; for me, it's an issue of cost and convenience. But I cook a lot, so I think that cancels out a lot of the non-crunchy foods I allow DS to eat Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am getting so crunchy it is ridiculous.

I went to the indian prefolds. just ordered a punch of covers in the mail. it's totally on.

I will breastfeed until this kid goes to cow's milk good willing.

if it ain't organic, it will not enter his little body.

If my family called me crunchy granola it would most certainly be as an insult Chat Icon Chat Icon I refused to do CIO with DS at 8 weeks and my mother thought I was spoiling him.

Re: did granola crunchy creep up on you re: parenting style?

I BF'd for 2 and a half months which was 2 and a half months longer than I ever wanted to. Other than that I Am pretty old school. I like it that way. I won't change a thing. It was how I was raised and I make no apologies for it. The only granola in my house is the oats and honey bars on top of my microwave.

ETA:

OK I DO give Abby organic milk that is pretty much because I don't want her boobs to be bigger than mine when she's 12.

Same here... I was NEVER EVER likt this pre-baby.... I worked in the medical profession and was all about the Drus Chat Icon

Then I got pregnant and WHOOSH..... here comes the home-birthing, breast feeding, co-sleeping, baby wearing, cloth diapering, organic clothing, organic food mama....

It was a process though.. didn't happen overnight... once I started researching options these were the things that best fit my family needs...

I love it though and feel good about my decisions as a parent which at the end of the day is the important thing whether we share the same beliefs or not...

Yup I am going that way too. I am Bfing, with no end in sight. When I do start solids, I am making all of her food using organics. We love co sleeping, but only when DH is not around (He has PTSD, at startles in his sleep sometimes) and I would use cloth diapers but my husband says NO, Chat Icon because i think he thinks it's much worse than it is.

Re: did granola crunchy creep up on you re: parenting style?

I always knew I would be a little crunchy granola-ish and that is exactly what I am. I couldn't really breatfeed with DD#1 but I tried for a month which was more then I thought I would do. I made organic baby food, grow organic veggies and give her organic milk. However, I don't go crazy overboard about any of it. If the store is out of organic milk she gets regular that week.

I was always kind of a hippy in ways. I wish I coudl have BF for longer but my supply went to sh!t once I got AF. I do all organic meats and vggies for them. I did use a sling(ergo) I probably would be more so with one baby

I've always been the granola type... but not exactly crunchy, lol.
So it doesn't surprise me at all I look for organic foods, use cloth diapers, breastfed, etc.

Re: did granola crunchy creep up on you re: parenting style?

Maybe half and half, although I think lots of my family think I'm more crunchy than not! I'm probably a bit crispy! Chat Icon

Still breastfeeding at 7 1/2 months even though nearly everyone in my mommy group has given up. DH has been saying I should, but something is making me want to continue - I'm having a hard time accepting the fact that my son's main source of nutrition might be a powder that comes out of a can with a list of ingredients on the side Chat Icon Chat Icon (even though I know there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with it and was FF myself).

I find the baby bjorn really useful, and kind of wish I had another type of sling from the beginning. I could see myself getting a bit more crunchy next time around.

Been buying organic fruits, veggies and now meats almost exclusively.

I think the funniest thing is that I feel the need to let my baby "explore" - no doubt to the disdain of the other mothers around me Chat Icon And by that I mean, I don't think there's anything wrong with letting the little ones touch one another and interact so long as they're not hurting one another. A few of the other mothers I know will push other babies away from theirs if they try to touch their baby, which to me is just not on. If Tristan is getting mauled by someone else's baby, I remove him from the situation, not the other way around...but I digress! I just meant I like to let them test their boundaries.

and here too!

I BF'd DS for 2 months. I couldn't keep up!

For DD:

I pumped and ran it to the NICU for 5 weeks straight, every single day. Pumped again at the hospital, during visits.

The day after she came home, I was like "Not happening"...I was running DS to school, coming home, pumping, going back to school, running errands..I felt it was even harder when she was home!
