I believe that people's opinions on the subject will vary in some cases based on their experience. Those who struggled with IF, those who have had miscarriages, those who have a child with some kind of disability at birth might come from a different place on the matter, than a person who had no trouble getting pregnant. Of course, EVERYONE wants a healthy child. But, when you've struggled to get to that point, the health part of it really trumps all of it,

Well, I learned the sex on the delivery table. I was bawling tears of joy (even though I wanted a girl!)

I didn't but I think I crushed dh's manhood when we found out it was a girl. He thought it was going to be a boy. He got over it though. We do plan to have more kids so there's still hope.
Now, she has him wrapped around her finger.
