Did you Go For the Elective Ultra-Screen at 12 weeks?
If so, can you post your details? I understand if you don't want to share this very confidential information...and I'm just grateful for your poll answer. But for those that don't mind, thank you very much. I have to make this decision quickly and am really not sure. Thanks again.

Re: Did you Go For the Elective Ultra-Screen at 12 weeks?
I had it done. My NT scan was normal and the blood work revealed a risk less than expected for my age. We were so grateful and reassured by the results.

Re: Did you Go For the Elective Ultra-Screen at 12 weeks?
i had the 12 week ultrascreen but elected not to have the 16 week AFP testing done. my ultrascreen results were right on the border of normal/abnormal (baby ultrasound was fine but something with my bloodwork was "off") which freaked me out since i was expecting nothing weird to happen. and since these are just screenings and NOT at all concrete or diagnostic, i felt like i was worrying without real proof. so i decided to not have the 16 week bloodwork done cause i dont like stressing. instead, my dr has decided to have me have a genetic ultrasound (level 3) instead of a regular level 2 because its more thorough. and i'll be going this week at 18 weeks instead of 20 weeks like a reg level 2.
for the next baby, i will not be doing the NT scan again. no matter what, we are accepting what God blesses us with. JMO.
good luck!

I think most people do. I did and had no problems with either pregnancy.

Re: Did you Go For the Elective Ultra-Screen at 12 weeks?
I went for sono and bloodwork at 12 1/2 weeks and all came back great. i was very skeptical about getting the second part done bc i heard of so many false positives but my dr convinced me to get it done. I got the results today and all is great again. Its just a screening but its very comforting when they say everything looks good.

I did the test just for the sonogram and did not call in to find out the results since it would not have changed anything for us.

Re: Did you Go For the Elective Ultra-Screen at 12 weeks?
I had both the 12 week test & the 16 week AFP test done. Both came back with extremely low risks on all. DH & I did anticipate anything, but knowing that there isn't definately was comforting for us, especially with all we went through!

Re: Did you Go For the Elective Ultra-Screen at 12 weeks?
I had the 12 week untrascreen done and still am kicking myself for putting myself through it. The sono part was perfect, but my blood came back abnormal showing a Low-Papp-A result. They retested me and came back with the same numbers. I was freaking out. They told me that it could me a number of different outcomes, let's just not panic and wait and see. I had my 16 week AFP and everything was normal. I am now 25 weeks and my little man is perfect.

Re: Did you Go For the Elective Ultra-Screen at 12 weeks?
We chose not to do any of the testing.
We know a few close people that had unfavorable results and worried for the rest of the pregnancy.
I did not want to worry myself. With my history of miscarriages I would not have opted for an amnio ( if the result was unfavorable).
I understand both sides. I think it's really a decision you have to go with your gut on.

Re: Did you Go For the Elective Ultra-Screen at 12 weeks?
I went and everything came back fine.
But at my 16w checkup my Dr offered me the AFP screen, which is just a blood test. Everything came back normal w/ the Ultrascreen so I figured why not?
However, the results from the AFP screen came back w/ an increased risk for Down's. So DH and I decided to have the amnio, and all the results came back good.

Re: Did you Go For the Elective Ultra-Screen at 12 weeks?
I elected to have it, I am all for testing. I will have it done in 2 weeks.
I wasn't offered it and didn't have it with DD 1 (different practice).

DH and I made the same decision to not take the test when we had DS.
Personally, if we did take it and the results came back unfavorable, I was not going to have an amnio, so we decided that we wouldn't even do the ultra screen.
It is a very personal decision, I think most women choose to do it, but for us we did not. I am now pregnant with #2 and anticipate telling my doc that we will not do it with this one as well.
