We just wanted a good Irish name that wasn't too trendy (actually, I could have gone a little more "unique" but DH preferred more conservative). His middle name is DH's name. All along DH told everyone if we had a boy the middle name would be his father's name but when DH saw he had a son, and he was born the day before his birthday, he realized how special it would be to use his own name.

Madeline is a family name. My mom, grandma, and great-great grandma are all madelines. I'm sure there were more in Italy as well.
Imagine my surprise that the name is so popular now!
edited to say: my mom & grandma are both alive- so it's pretty funny when all three of them are together... my grandma is madeline, my mom is mad, and DD is maddie...
but it's still chaos- but a fun chaos.

I named my DD after my dad who passed away 11 years ago. His name was Jerry. I took the J and named her Jordana. We also wanted a name that could be used in both, English and Hebrew.
Her middle name, Madison, is after my grandfather, Manny.

I wanted a Hebrew sounding name, but wasn't too keen on the ones I saw in the baby book. When I was about 6 months pregnant I was watching ER and when the credits came up, I saw the name Noah Wyle, and it hit me like a ton of bricks. Noah. I called my Mom and she said, Love it. My husband loved it too...but my MIL was worried that he would be made fun of in school because of Noah's ark. I said to her, do you think they called any girls at school Virgin Mary?

We picked our daughters name just because we liked it but her middle name we named after the nurse that was with me during labor and delivery...I know it might be alittle weird but she was soooo good to me and my husband that we decided to use her name.
