Did your school do parent/teacher conferences in kindergarten ?
My DS's K teacher said she generally doesn't do them unless a parent specifically requests one or there is an issue of sorts ...Is that the norm ?
When I was there last week
(for T-Giving feast) , she said he was doing fine and said "if" I wanted one she would but doesn't do them generally

Thats what I thought ...
Strange...Maybe she does them, but not this early in the year or something 
I'm just curious how he's doing...I mean I see his work and tests etc...but more how he is adapting, behavior etc...His asst teacher told me, no news is good news, but I'm still curious !

Yup. Our school has 2 half days on December 16 and 17th just so the teacher can do conferences
eta: I believe we are in the same district

Yes - We had ours in early Novemeber. Prior to that, the teacher had called all the parents and gave them an update as well some time in early October just letting us know how they are adjusting. The phone call was esp nice considering it wasn't something she had to do.

Yes Sachem. Our conferences are scheduled for those 2 afternoons and the school calendar clearly calls them teacher conference days

Had mine in Oct. Kind of early IMO but they are supposed to be having conferences on the 16th and 17th. So what is she doing on the days of early release?

Thats what I was wondering myself Unless she is only doing conferences with students that she referenced to me ( children experiencing issues or whose parents are specifically requesting one )
She told me I could schedule one after the holidays if felt like I needed to and thats just it...I don't "need" to, but I thjought it was standard and that it would be nice to get a glimpse into how he is doing first hand, kwim ?
From this thread it seems like this is completely out of the norm...Strange

Yes, we have PT conferences and thats when they give us the report cards for ALL grades at the elementary level.

Our district does them regardless up to 4th grade. 5th and higher it is on an as needed basis and if you request one.

DD is still in pre school but we have conferences in january. I always thought it was the "norm" for 2 conferences a year after that. I would ask for one, but thats just me..because like you..Im curious and would want to hear how DC is doing, what I could work on, etc.
