I think in part, it is dues to what we see people in power do..
When the "leader" of our country, and supposed "leader of the free world" goes on tv daily and belittles, mocks, makes fun of, and name-calls everyone and everything, it becomes the norm. "If he can do it, so can we cause he's our leader and our representative" kind of mentality.
Before, outward signs of your most vile thought were not considered acceptable so people were careful in how they phrased things.
Now, everything is allowed and even cheered. it's one of the many reasons America has lots its status and its power and it is very very sad.
Absolutely!! This is DEAD on and I totally agree!!
Trump has made it okay and has given people a platform to be the ugliest, most hateful versions on themselves. Nobody has a filter anymore.

That is ridiculous as we all have our morals and ethics and most of us don't follow how a president or anyone higher up acts to determine how we act. I am so tired of the blame game and the majority of anything in this world is now Trump's fault. God bless this man for putting up with all of this for no pay at all. I doubt many of you would be able to do it.
No pay at all? You do realize he's making millions from all the money spent at his properties from his gazillion golfing trips because of all the people who have to go with him and stay there, right?
The 400k is pennies compared to everything his corruption is yielding him.
Again he is not taking a paycheck and donates it all. I don’t care how much money he makes otherwise. The point was no one goes through as much crap as he has and doesn’t take at least a salary for it.
Awww, poor wittle baby Trumpie.

I didn’t want to hijack another thread about the VP and change the subject. But I’m just so frustrated.
When did it become ok to verbally and physically assault people who have a different opinion? We see it with politics all the time Now. We see it with Things like vaccines. We see it every day now. But now with covid I can not believe what I am seeing. My local moms page is filled with people attacking each other over decisions related to going back to school.
When did it become ok to publicly belittle people who don’t agree with you?! If my children ever name called or teased someone because they had a different opinion They would be reprimanded. Why is this ok with adults?!?!?!
When Trump became president

Re: Different opinions
Prime example is the way people treat each other on here...I probably have a reaction to some threads on here daily. I cannot believe how much anger and nastiness people freely throw at each other and it's just awful
I agree about the nastiness coming from the top. When the president shows zero class or respect towards people it does send a message.
I did not vote for George Bush as his policies are different to mine but he showed respect to others and while he hails from the same political party as Trump they are like night and day. Stating this as I am not calling out Trump because of his political standing.
I can honestly say that I have never felt such disappointment, disgust and shock at how this country has been represented in the past four years. The US is no longer a country that should be put on a pedestal.

Yes!!! I feel like people struggle with those who support Trump not because of political differences but because he lacks any morals, dignity, respect or empathy and how can anyone support a human being lacking those qualities.

To be fair, I’ve also heard plenty of nastiness coming from those that do not support Trump. U’d think ppl that are so against him and criticize the way he behaves, would carry themselves the opposite way.

I think people tried, in the beginning. It is very very hard to be the bigger person when you are being ridiculed daily, when you see injustice daily, when your opponents don't understand discourse and polite debate. After a while, you end up using their tactics because that is all they understand. I wasn't a fan of Michelle Obama, but every time I have a reaction I try to remember "when they go low, we go high" Sometimes I fail and fall low with them. I'm human. But I try again the next day.

Do you personally know any of us? Do you personally know everyone who supports Trump? They are all morons the ones you do know? Why are you friends with them then? Have you told them they are morons? I bet you haven't but have no clue saying it behind a screen.

You told me I shouldn’t vote because I don’t live in the US. But I file my taxes.
That isn’t name calling. You are putting me into a group that doesn’t deserve to vote because I don’t live there. I have every right to vote. I voted for NY elections, I voted for the school budget, I vote for primaries. I have every right to vote. So yes, don’t sit there and say an AMERICAN can’t vote. You POS.

1. Yes 2. No 3. Yes 4. Their support of Trump has made me reevaluate their sanity and the friendship 5. Yes Listen, supporting a man who cheats, lies, and race baits, who has so COLOSSALLY mismanaged the corona virus, who has damaged our standing so much that we are literally almost a third world nation now shows not only limited intelligence and critical thinking skills, but also a severe lack of empathy and care for others.

That's fine that you have an opinion. I have never said that I support him or like him (even though if I mention anything about him I support him and am a racist).

Thankfully I have zero family members and only one friend who support 45 and honestly, my opinion of that one friend has really lowered significantly. I hate that it happened, and I hate to lose a friend, but at the same time there are some things in life that I just cannot support like racism, misogyny, cheating, lying and cruelty. A trunk supporter may not be a bad person, but to support him is to be perfectly ok with all of the above and to me that is just wrong.

You have to do you. If something stresses you out you might have to walk away for a bit. I don't think it is right (not you but in general) that people will destroy life long friendships over differing opinions though. There are things I don't care about many of my friends but if you see more pro's then con's then it is not worth losing a friendship over.

Welcome back. Haven’t seen you lately :)
Rolling my eyes will do just as the same as you except I will be voting here. It’s called having an opinion.
Why would you even bother voting for a country you don’t live in and don’t intend to come back to? Are you still quarantined as you sound like you need to get out again and not happy with yourself. :(
Her comments about how much she doesn't like this country and how she has not lived here in a very long time and doesn't plan to come back anytime soon, doesn't make sense to vote, IMO.
This was everything I posted to you.
Again: Where did I say you SHOULDN'T vote?
Where did I can an American CAN'T vote?
