I currently own the Nikon D50 and want to get another lens. The one I have came with the camera (basic). Any rec on what to get next and their differences?

I also have the D50 and I have 2 lenses. Both came with the camera bundle when I bought it. I have a 28-80 mm and a 70-300 mm. I use the smaller one indoors and the 70-300 one outside.

I am assuming I have the 28-80 (but will check when i get home). Can you tell me what the difference is between the lens Chat Icon (i know it's pathetic that i am even asking)

The difference is the zoom capabilities. The 28-80 is good for landscapes/wide angle shots...the 70-300 is for close-up/portrait shots/detailed work.

I don't have a Nikon - I have a Canon...we have a 24-85 IS lens and an 18-200 (which is good for a variety of shots - landscape to close-up). We're looking to get a 70-300 (I can't get enough cropped shots! LOL).

Make sure that you get a good lens=----
I have a Canon SLR and canon lenses-- there are lenses and then there are LENSES-- Make sure you get one with glass and not plastic (you'll feel the difference in weight)
