Disney checkout day - things to do?

Need Ideas about how to entertain ourselves during checkout day:

The magical express won't be coming for us until about 4pm, but checkout (from villas at grand floridian) is at 11. Thoughts on what to do with 6 adults, 3 kids (ages 2, 6, 8)? Preferably not a park as we already bought our park passes and not looking to add another day! We will not have a car.

We stayed and did things at the hotel. Had lunch at a resturant and swam in the pool. We have also done Downtown Disney on checkout day.

We usually do a mix of pool, pic taking, Downtown Disney or resort hopping. We have also done a late character breakfast on check out day.

You can:

1. make it a pool/resort day. You can use the resort facilities until midnight of the day you check out. With DVC there is no late check out or "courtesy rooms," but there are lockers and changing areas and showers by the pool.
2. Grab a fun lunch at another resort (Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge is one that comes to mind).
3. Head over to Fort Wilderness and go the ranch to see the horses and maybe do a wagon ride. They used to have a little petting zoo, I'm not sure it's still there, but you used to be able to pet the goats.
4. Go to Downtown Disney and have lunch while seeing a movie at the Dine-In theater
5. Go bowling at Downtown Disney
6. Head over the Animal Kingdom Lodge for lunch - head out back and see the animals on the savannah
7. Explore the other nearby resorts. If you're staying at the Villas at GF, the kids might like to take monorail one last time. You could also just take the boat over to the MK or the monorail to the Contemporary and then hop on another boat to head over towards Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge.
8. Head over to Old Key West or the Boardwalk and rent bicycles (or a surrey on the boardwalk). ETA: You can also do this at Saratoga Springs

I usually go to the park on check-out day. I build in pool/no park days into all Disney vacations. The PP's list of things to do is a great one if the parks are not an option.

Later character meal.

Tour some other hotels.

You can still swim and use the pools at the Grand Flordian after you check out.

Go to Downtown Disney, explore, eat. Take the monorail around bay lake and over to EPCOT.

The kids could do the Pirate Cruise while adults have breakfast. It leaves from the GF. Or sign them up for the Wonderland Tea Party there with Alice and Mad Hatter. My dd loved both of these.
