disney people-how much can a 38 inch 3 yr old do there without you?
I am so tempted to hit the Magic Kingdom this summer...only problem is it will only be me, Josh, and Jessie.
I am trying to remember if there are any rides that he can go on solo?? Can I bring baby on Pirates of the Carribean? Swiss Fam tree? Racecars?
or does this trip sound like a bust? tia!

Re: disney people-how much can a 38 inch 3 yr old do there without you?
We went twice before DS turned one!
There is so much to do for little ones....Small world, Pooh ride, Merry-Go-Round, Pirates, Dumbo, Alladin's Flying Carpet, Tikki Birds, Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin, Peter Pan Ride, Tea Cups, Tree House, parade, jungle cruise...too much to list! The only problem would likely be not having enough time to see it all in one day.
You might also consider making advance dining reservations at Crystal Palace for lunch or dinner to see Pooh and friends or at Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary Resort to see the big cheese himself, Mickey Mouse! These restaurants fill up fast and can be booked online through this link.

We have gone to Disney for the past 3 years starting when the twins were 11 months - you can go on tons of rides with the baby! Pirates, Jungle cruise, small world, etc.. FM if you need any specifics.

Re: disney people-how much can a 38 inch 3 yr old do there without you?
There is a lot he will be able to do -
The baby can go on anything without a height limit Things w/ height requirement of 40 inches or more: Space mountain splash mountain alien encounter
The indie cars - They don't recommend for under 12 months - you have to be 32 inches to ride with someone (DD#2 couldn't go) and I think 54 inches to drive.
Barnstormer he can ride alone (there is a 35 inch height requirement).
Anything else in the park you can ride with the baby - and the tree house is a walk thru I carried my DD#2 thru it. Lots of climbing stairs though.
If you think you can handle the two of them I would definitely go - there is SO much to do - and honestly there are so many things that aren't rides to do as well. You could let him run around on tom sawyers island too. As well as parades, meet and greets etc.
Etd to add - we just got back end of May with DD#2 who turned 1 on the trip - both girls LOVED it and I can't tell you how many tiny babies we saw being carried on rides in carriers. If you can handle it I say go for it. DD#1 didn't listen to me so I would be nervous doing it alone but if you can do it - go for it. BTW there is a nice baby center - with nursing rooms, a room with TVs as well - so you can give bottles or nurse depending on what you do - they sell supplies as well if you run out of anything.

thanks guys!
She won't be much fun in the heat, but the three of us are suppose to be going to a baptism in Tampa...so since I am already down there, might as well take advantage.
DH thinks everything points to disaster. We were in a hotel last weekend and Josh's asthma acted up. So we will see...the fact that we can do things once we get there is totally making me want to attempt it.

Lots of rides for kids under 40 inches.
You can go with the baby and Josh at the same time in most rides (it's a small World, Peter Pan, etc...)

I would try to come up with a plan so that you don't get stuck in too many lines - there are touring plans available online - and try to work in things like shows (Tiki room, Laughing floor -Monsters Inc show and country bears) so that you can get some air conditioning time. I know when we were there mid May it was 88-92 everyday and DD#2 doesn't do well in heat - so we tried to grab as much air conditioning times as we could. Cosmic rays has a large inside eating area (as does columbia house and pico bills as well) for counter service lunches. Bring a change of clothes b.c there are two water areas too - if it gets really hot - (Donald's boat as interactive water feature as well as the tiki statues right across from Aladin's carpet ride by Jungle cruise (the tiki statues spit water). I would also try to use fast pass as much as you can.

How old will DD be when you go?
We went when Abby was 4 months old and she Loved it! Just taking everything in- i felt like she grew so much that week! lol As far as the heat.... DH and i used to go to Disney in August. The heat can be brutal, but if you plan well, it should be fine. We would get to the parks when they opened- hit all the rides (the other benefit is that the lines are much less early in the AM than they will be the rest of the day). Then by 11-12ish, we were ready for lunch and back to the hotel to hit up the pool (or, around those times, you could do one of their indoor shows- there's plenty of places to rest in the cool air!).
Gooooo!!! You'll have a great time! Josh will love it!
