Disney Question... not staying on property

If you stay at a timeshare or hotel close by what do you do?
Drive every day early in the morning?
Do you go home in-between to nap, lunch, etc or stay all day?

Where do you buy the passes? At the park or did you do it before online? Does it matter price wise?

We have a timeshare. The plan is to stay as long as possible. We aren't thinking about going back and forth. Figured get there real early and usually come home to the timeshare for dinner then.

The kids are 4, 3 and 2. Hoping my 2 yr old will nap in the stroller walking around, but we'll see. If not then just go to sleep earlier than usual.

Re: Disney Question... not staying on property

My parents have a timeshare so we always trade and stay off property (since it's free). We go early and stay usually until pretty late. We always drove even though our resorts have had shuttles. My kids always slept in the stroller if they needed to.

We buy our passes from undercover tourist or just at the park.

I love the amount of space we have off property...we have a 3 bedroom unit next year so our kids get their own room and we all sleep better!

Disney Question... not staying on property

I only stay off property. When we go to Disney we do not even go to the parks everyday. There is plenty to do at the place we stay at so we go the pool etc.

My DS naps anywhere so I would never leave the park to come home for a nap. I also would not schedule my day around naps....that's just how we are we make DS adapt tot he day instead.

Food....if we are in the park then we eat there.

We went every day in the morning. We stayed until the kids were done and went back to the timeshare to hang out by the pool. We went out for dinner a few nights but, mostly got take out.

I bought them directly from the Disney store. I wanted to have them in hand and we have a Disney credit card and were using rewards so I wanted to do it with a live person.

Re: Disney Question... not staying on property

Thanks all! I don't revolve my life around the boy's naps, but figured I'd ask bc I remember reading some pple go to the timeshare to nap then go back.

We plan on going early and staying till we feel we're ready to go home.

We rented a car through Cosco and got a great price.

Re: Disney Question... not staying on property

We always stay off property. We go by when my son wakes up. We eat breakfast before we leave the house. And then spend as much time in the park as we can. We usually go back to the house around dinner time... Or if he is not having it in the parks.... We go back to the parks for the night time stuff if there is something going on. We are leaving in a few weeks for a 10 day trip and I will go with the flow. I won't wake DS up to get to the parks early... He is not a morning person!!!

If he is tired, he will nap in the stroller. He did on our last trip in 2012 when he was 2..

Re: Disney Question... not staying on property

The first time we went to Disney, we stayed off property. We would do the parks in the morning and leave around lunch. We did not return to the parks after going back to the hotel. We would rest and hang out at he pool.

We go back to the hotel so the adults can rest more than the kids! The past 2 times we went to Disney, we stayed at Disney resorts and went back to our resort to rest and would return to the parks or downtown Disney in the afternoon/eve.

Re: Disney Question... not staying on property

My kids wake up early enough on their own. We usually let them be our alarm clock. We do breakfast in the room and then head out. I've never been at rope drop in my life. The only time we headed out super early was when we did breakfast at Tuskers. We just play the day by ear and utilize the fast pass system as much as possible. When they were younger they would just nap in the stroller mid- afternoon and we would just hang out indoors in the AC. Then we would do more rides and stay until the night parade and fireworks.
