Disney's Memory Maker... Talk to me.

I am considering purchasing this for our upcoming trip. I don't even know how this works... Should I just purchase individual photos using a photo pass? What is the difference? Is it even worth the price?

Obviously I'm confused. Please explain this to me for those who have used it.

For about 3 days in the Parks, how many pictures did you end up with?

Basically you're pre-paying one price and you get all the photos that they take of you. So if you plan on doing a lot of character meets and are willing to stop at photogs to have pics done then it can be worth it. We've gotten it on past trips and really liked the candids they got at character meets, especially b/c it's hard to personally take pics and stay in the moment.

However, we have a trip coming up and we are not planning on doing it. We'll only be there 3 days and don't plan on a lot of characters. We just want one nice family photo in front of the castle so I plan to pay for that separately when we get home.

Individual pics are expensive, I think $15 for one shot.

Of course, you always have the option of buying all the pics when you get home but you'll pay $20 more than if you pre-paid.

I don't think it's worth it for our family. But I bring my DSLR and take pictures myself, and hand it off to the cast members to take pictures of all of us.

I think its totally worth it! We went for 5 days but we got sooooo many pictures. Even pictures that guys were just walking around and happened to see my kids talking to someone or dancing. I never had to worry about pulling my phone or camera out.. and they are professional grade photos. We were at AK one day and suddenly Chip and Dale appeared and did a little dance party with a few kids and the adults got involved. I love the pics! it was so funny and awesome that I could join in and dance with the kids and not sit on the sidelines worrying if I got a picture of it or not.

i think its definitely worth it!! its nice to just pay one price for all the pictures you want- they send them to you as a download to do whatever you want with
you can end up with a bunch of pictures!! pictures from a lot of the rides, a couple of the rides even do a video of you on the ride and you'll get those, too. also any of the character meets you'll get the pictures from- so its great its also really nice because your whole family can be in the pictures without asking a random person to take the pictures.
The disney photographers are all over... we went to Typhoon lagoon water park and one of the photographers got GREAT pictures of DS going down the slide. you just have to take the minute or two to stop and get the pictures taken- make sure you're taking full advantage of it

Worth every penny IMO. You get amazing pictures, but you have to make sure you take advantage of every photo opp around the parks, rides, etc..

How does this work? Is it the card that you're given to hand to the photographers whenever they take your pics?

Worth it!!!

We were there in December right after Thanksgiving and I ended up with about 150 pictures from just this. We spent 4 days in the parks.

You just have to make sure you use it and have it scanned. You need to stop at the photo opp places when the photographers are there. They aren't going to come up to you.

The best part was I didn't need to lug my DSLR around with me because the bad captures all the character moments and the rides that have it. You just scan your magic band.

I used my IPhone for the rest of the pictures, much easier when you have 2 kids and a stroller and everything else they require for a day in the park.

Anyone do this staying off-site without magic bands? I'm wondering if you can still get the ride pictures since, as I understand it, the ride pictures pick up the chip in your magic band... does your admission card have to be out of your pocket on the rides to get your memory maker to "click"...?

We didn't get it and I am glad. The pictures I actually made prints of from the Disney pics were about 1 per park. A few more for the MK. It would have cost more to have done the memory maker and the pics would just be taking up space on my computer. But I am not an album kind of person, I like to frame and display pics better so I only need a few. I used that money to pay for an extra character meal where we took our own cell phone pics.

Thank you everyone. I'm pretty convinced that I'm going to purchase this!

We are spending 3 days in the park + 1 in Universal.

I'll bring my DLSR to Universal & not worry about lugging it everywhere else.

Do you get free prints with Memory Maker? We didn't see the point of it at all, they will still scan your bracelet and take your pictures if you have it or not. What does the extra $$$ get you, aside from ride photos?

Memory Maker enables you to download all the photos that you get taken along with ride photos. You can pre-purchase, which saves you $20. Or you can wait until you get home and see if you like a bunch of pics and pay for it then. Or you can wait until you get home and buy just a few photos for about $15 each.

Do it! Memory maker is the best! Don't be shy- ask the photographers if they have magic shots. You want to get as much bang for your buck as you can

We got it included for free with our package in May 2014. Some pictures were so-so & some I loved. It was nice to have the pressure to capture every moment on our own taken off. We took tons of our own pics of course but I didn't worry too much because I knew we had memory maker to back us up. If we were to go again, I'd probably have a hard time justifying not purchasing it.

The $150 means you get to download ALL your photos and print them wherever you want. Without MM you can print them from Disney, but you can't download them and do it elsewhere.

So if you have 20 photos taken and buy MM the only extra cost is whatever Snapfish charges for prints, or wherever you buy your prints.

If you don't buy MM and you want all 20 printed out it would cost you like $300.

The middle ground is if you get that many photos taken that you want to print you can purchase MM after the fact for $169 instead of the $149 if you prepurchase.
