Re: do babies that walk early, do other things early

I didnt do TT religiously.

DS did some stuff early but not all.
He walked at 10 months but didnt crawl until 9, didnt cruise or pull to standing until 9.5 months.

DS is a big kid and always very strong, but he doesnt do things until he is sure about them. He never got up on all 4s and rocked, he never crawled backwards, but one day he just got up and crawled perfectly across the room.

I dont remember rolling and such really.

Re: do babies that walk early, do other things early

For DD it seemed to be all related. As soon as she could sit up and wanted to try to crawl (didn't happen for a few months though). And as soon as she learned to crawl she wanted to pull up on everything... as soon as she learned that it was right on to cruising, etc..

start tummy time: day 1
roll over one way: exactly 4 months old she rolled back to belly
roll over both ways: a week after she rolled back to belly
sit up unassisted: 5 months
crawl: a little before 8 months
cruise: 8.5 months
walk: 11 months

We did tummy time a few times a day from day 1... but she never minded it. We did it until she rolled over herself, then when we'd put her down she'd just roll the way she wanted to be.

In my experience kids that reach milestones early continue to do so. Would be an interesting study to conduct....Infant milestones/high school outcome results. I've wondered about this before.... Are the kids who are reaching thier milestones early the brightest/most athletic kids in their classes throughout school, with the most impressive outcome results?

Re: do babies that walk early, do other things early

start tummy time: BIRTH (he also slept on his tummy since day 1 which helps!)

roll over one way: 3 weeks (by accident) but consistently at 3 months

roll over both ways: by 5 months
sit up unassisted: 4 months when propped, was able to get up from belly at 6.5 months

crawl: 6.5 months

cruise: 7.5 months

walk: ALMOST there - 10 months... he attempts to walk and will go from one piece of furniture to another, but that's it.

and where you doing tummy time every day consistently and till what age? We did tummy time consistently (several times a day) until he was able to sit up on his own (moving himself from belly to sitting up) so it just kind of stopped at that point. I couldn't keep him on his belly. He started to crawl right after. I would always put him on his belly and he'd either sit up or crawl away.

Loey:

start tummy time - from birth
roll over one way - 4 months, 2 weeks
roll over both ways - 4 months, 3 weeks
sit up unassisted - 5 months, 2 weeks
crawl - 5 months, 2 weeks
cruise - 6 months, 1 week
walk - not yet

today he stood alone for about 10 seconds and I think he did that at the GTG we just had... he first stood alone for a second or two about 2 weeks ago. he's 8 months now.

we did tummy time consistently every day from birth.. he always loved it

Re: do babies that walk early, do other things early

It didn't really correlate for us. DS was rolling both ways before 4 months, sitting up at 6 months, and crawling just a few weeks later. Standing up and cruising all came very shortly after each other. I thought for sure he would walk early, but he did on time, at 12 months.

This was DD as well.
We started tummy when she was just few days old. She never minded it and I actually think she enjoyed it very much ;) roll over one way at almost 4 months , rolled over both ways few days after, sit up unassisted before she turned 5 months, started holding a bottle around 7-7.5 months . crawling backwards at 6 months and then (regular) crawling at 7 months, cruise around 8 months and walked 2 weeks before she turned 10 months. But REALLY started walking/almost running non stop at 12 months. She was also an early talker Chat Icon

OH and my mother says that I never crawled, I just started cruising at 7 months and started walking at 8.5 months .

DD is 13 months old.
We did tummy time from about a week old and she hated every minute of it.

Rolled late...maybe 5 months?
sat unassisted at 5 months.
started cruising at 9 months
crawled at 10.5 months
walked 2 weeks after her 1st birthday.

DS did everything early but he didn't walk until he was one week shy of 17 months.

Re: do babies that walk early, do other things early

DS did everything on the early side- rolling at a couple months old, sitting & crawling at 5 months & started pulling himself to standing at 6 months, crusing around 8 months & walking at 10 months.

DD rolled over at an average age, sat up around 5/6 months, crawled about 8 months, cruised around 9 months, walked at 10 months.

Re: do babies that walk early, do other things early

DS was always early with the physical stuff BUT verbal took a little while. Now at 19.5 months, he is a motor mouth and speaks about 20-40 words. But he didn't say Ma (I still don't get a MAMA) until he was 15 months.

So here was his sked
start tummy time-very early, probably around 8 weeks
roll over one way-around 8-10 weeks
roll over both ways-around 12 weeks
sit up unassisted-4 months
crawl-6 months
cruise-8 months
walk-9.5 months
and where you doing tummy time every day consistently and till what age? yes, we did tummy time every day. We used the play mat.

Re: do babies that walk early, do other things early

my older DD was constantly doing TT she loved it. and she didnt start walking till almost 13 months.

My middle DD we didn't do TT religioulsy and i thought she would be lacking since she had reflux and after feeding we had to sit her up in the chair for about an hour and she would fall asleep so she was in her chair all the time and very little floor and tummy time. She started rolling at 4.5 months...crawling and 7 months and walking/running at 10.5 months. I do have to add that she didnt do anything slowly. when she learned to roll one way by the end of the day she was rolling both ways and rolling across the floor. And when she learned to walk she went from 3 steps to full fledge running.

Re: do babies that walk early, do other things early

No idea.

Both daughters were on par with each other as far as sitting up, crawling, etc.

They both did everything around the same time....5 months, crawling at 7 months....however, DD#1 didn't start walking until she was 13 months and here DD#2 started walking before she turned 10 months!

I've done everything the same as far as tummy time, etc...

It depends on the child....in every single thing they do. No 2 are the same Chat Icon

Re: do babies that walk early, do other things early

DS did most things early but from what I know it means nothing and in a year they will all be at teh same place

DS liked tummy time so we did it from his first week home.

He sat up early and then did the army crawl about 5.5 months and did a regular crawl 6-7 months and pulled himself to stand by 7 months and just started walked 4 days before his 10 month birthday. He still prefers to crawl bc he gets there faster but if things that he wants to get to are close he will walk to them (he is 10 months)

Re: do babies that walk early, do other things early

Kaydyn was a very active little baby.

She rolled back to belly around 3 months.

Rolled belly to back a couple of weeks later.

Sat unassisted by 4 1/2 months.

Pulled up at 5 1/2 months

Crawled at 6 months

Cruised at 6 1/2 months

Walked the day before her 1st birthday. She had been taking steps since 10 months but really took off right before her birthday.

She HATED tummy time so we really didn't do it all that often. Maybe once a day, once every other day for a few mins.

Ainsley is a content little baby most of the time. She is 6 months and only rolls (and doesn't even do that on a consistent basis). She can sit unassisted for short periods of time. She'll pull her chest up off the ground, but hasn't gotten her legs under her yet and can't move more than a few inches with the army crawl.

Re: do babies that walk early, do other things early

I didn't do tummy time with DD at all really. Chat Icon She hated it so I didn't want to deal. She rolled back to belly at 3 months so she created her own tummy time Chat Icon

She rolled belly to back soon after. Right now, at almost 6 months, she can sit tripod unassisted, but falls over if she picks her hands up. She is rocking on all fours and army crawling but not regular crawling.

With DS, I was pretty religious about tummy time, and he did everything on the late side - sat up at 6.5/7 months, crawled at 10 months, walked at 15 months.
