Do You Believe in the Statement Once a Cheater...Always a Cheater?
I was thinking about this in the monring, because i heard about the Matt LeBlanc story. Now i don't know the whole story, but it sounds like he met this other woman on his sitcom and left his wife for her. I have heard in the past that he was a big ladies man back in the day and cheated on numerous girlfriends....
I tend to believe in the statement, once a cheater, always a cheater. In the many people I have come across in my life, i can get a good vibe if they are the cheating type if the opportunity arised. Others are not. I think a person who cheats can repent and say he/she will never do it again, and they might not, but i believe he/she will have urges throughout their lives.
Also, i am not talking about cheating when you were in HS or college as that is a different time. I am talkign about cheating on someone you are married to or have a long term relationship with.

Yes.
I do believe that HS and college stuff is different, but I think in a committed kind of relationship, once a cheater, always a cheater. Absolutely.

Yes, as the old saying goes... "once you lay down with a dog you are bound to get fleas".
Most of the people I know who have cheated in the past have done it more than once.

I generally tend to believe this. Most of the people who I know cheated continue to cheat, even while married. I believe that very few people actually change this part of themselves.

I hate to be the optimist but I really thinks it depends on the person, the severity of the cheating and why it happened. I had a friend when I was younger whose dh cheated (not fullblown sex) but did other things because of the people they were hanging out with at that time. They were very bad influences and once they lost those friends, they were totally loyal to my friend. She has never had a problem again and they talked it out why it happened.
Now, if it happened more than once and was more of a "relationship" than yes, I wouldn't trust them again.

It is kind of hard to make such a general statement. The thing is I firmly believe "if they cheat with you they will cheat on you". I think that there are so many reasons why people cheat. None excuseable I feel be a "man" and do what is right by the other person.
I think it would be hard to trust someone that cheated not on me but if I found out they had a previous relationship/marriage but once again every situation is different.

I think that if you are engaged or married, then yes, once a cheater always a cheater. But, if you are just dating I would need to know more about the circumstance...how committed is the relationship, has marriage been discussed, stuff like that. I think someone could cheat in the beginning when you are not so "serious" then when it does get serious, they will not cheat. This is JMHO.

Me too. I also think it depends on whether it was an error in judgment and the person felt guilty or if the person cheated and didn't care or think about the relationship/significant other.

yes for people who are married
i know people that cheated on bf/gf when they were younger....got married and are completely faithful
and i know others who cheat married and keep cheating
it all depends
