Do you cook ahead of time..
...or while company is there.
I cook as guests are there. Cooking ahead of time and reheating was just not how my family cooked...everything had to be fresh and right off the stove.
I ask cuz...I will admit that it gets a little crazy at times in the kitchen and maybe I can not spend as much time with my guests...but I do not mind.
Do you think my guests do??

Re: Do you cook ahead of time..
I have an eat in kitchen with a peninsula. so if I have guests I always have some food prepared (salads etc) but I do my final cooking in the kitchen while they are lounging at the table having a wine or a beer. I love it that way! Also, if I entertain, I usually do something on the BBQ...

The prep work is always done- If i'm making chicken parm the chicken is already breaded and waiting to go in the oven when my guests arrive

Re: Do you cook ahead of time..
we have a chef that makes all the food, and we pick it up thanksgiving morning transfer it to serving dishes and put it in the refrigerator.
Then those dishes go in the oven, and the food comes out amazing.

It depends but for big meals, I cook what I can ahead of time.
