Do you eat Chinese food? Is it really bad for us, sodium wise? Or do you think it's ok once in a while?

I suspect (just guessing here) probably not the type of Chinese we eat. My friends are in China, relocated for work right now and I am pretty sure they said it's not like the Chinese food we have here. I thought I heard most Chinese people eat a lot healthier than what we '"take" out from Chinese fast food stores?

Since there are no good Chinese food places nearby, I don't. However, I eat Thai and Japanese in moderation. I'm sure the sodium isn't great, but as long as you're not really swollen and retaining water afterwards, it's probably fine in moderation.

I think it's ok in moderation. I dont think I have read anything that says you should never eat it while pregnant.

I would try to go to a place that doesn't use MSG or ask them to now use it. Otherwise, you might end up with a nasty headache.

ITA! My husband is chinese and the food he eats and the food you get at a chinese take out place are very different!

The place I use says they never use it. It is listed as NO MSG on their menu and I also ask them to double check. I do avoid the MSG if I go to another Chinese restaurant that uses it.

I dont think its "bad" for you- everything in moderation is key 
The only thing I would be most concerned about is the salt intake. Chinese food is really REALLY salty!

As long as you don't eat it regularly...
but as the OP said, it's super salty.... I would puff up A LOT.... but overall, restaurant chinese food is perhaps the most deadly food around. TONS of grease, TONS of salt, low nutritional value.
And of couse they eat nothing like that in China... If they DID, their life expectancy would be around 45 and they'd all be morbidly obese
They steam a lot of their food, and actually, REAL Chinese food is quite healthy.....

I wouldn't say it's "bad" per se....it's just got a TON of sodium, so I personally stay away b/c I pay for it the next day...lol.
But as some of the other posters have said...everything in moderation. Once in a blue moon won't hurt.

I eat it at least once a week. And then the leftovers for lunch
Why wouldn't we be able to eat it?
We get it from a very good place and it is not salty at all!!! And even if it was, I eat Mcdonalds a lot and that is way worse
