Do you ever worry the gender you were told was incorrect?

Do you girls ever worry that the gender they told you was incorrect?! I know they are pretty accurate these days but I seriously still worry. I really don't care what it is either way but I can't help but hope they were right. Her nursery is decorated pink and girly. All of her clothes are girly. Can you imagine if they were wrong! Omg! Please tell me this doesn't happen often!

Yep - this is our new favorite thing to joke about! We were told we are having a girl at my Level II - the tech and Dr were both sure.

But of course we joke -- a boy is going to come out and have a pink room, girly furniture, and all pink clothes!!!!!!

I'm not sure how often it goes 'wrong', but I have heard of it happening!!!!

Re: Do you ever worry the gender you were told was incorrect?

With DS I was little worried. Only because I really only had 4 sonos and only 1 of them was after we found out he was a boy.

This time, not so much. Since they are identical twins I was/am going for sonos nearly every 2 weeks and they have confirmed 2 girls multiple times.

I worried about it for a bit and then I mentioned this to my dr. a few weeks ago and she said with the technology they have out now, she has yet to see someone get it wrong.

I've had weekly growth sonos since and our LO keeps showing us his goods

It doesn't really happen all that often anymore. I wouldn't worry! I know ONE person who was told a girl a bunch of times and out popped a boy!! But that was 6 years ago and i don't think her sonos were that great.

Everyone else I know who had babies have always been right!! And if you are ever really nervous, there is always the 3D ultrasound!

Re: Do you ever worry the gender you were told was incorrect?

I would second guess things since we found out early at 16w but I dont really second guess because we have a shot of the goods and both the sono tech and doctor both said it is definitely a boy. Plus, we go back at 20w for another anatomy scan so they will confirm again.

I worried about this so much even though I had a lot of sono's bc this happened to my BIL. They were told they were having a girl and out popped a boy! When DD was born the first thing I asked was if it was a girl. Lol!

There's that commercial on TV with the baby named Danielle and how her mommy was expecting Daniel but the store let them return all the clothes (no clue which store lol) -- I said to DH last night "does that happen ever anymore???"

Re: Do you ever worry the gender you were told was incorrect?

I know that for me personally, if they ever tell me I'm having a girl I will have them check at every sono (and go for a 3D one Chat Icon ) because I know someone who they told girl to - and she had a boy.

Like you, I wouldn't care about the gender - but I wouldn't want to bring a boy home to a frilly pink room.

It really isn't very common though so I wouldn't worry Chat Icon Chat Icon

The only person that I know of that this happened to was 30 years ago. Personally I'm not worried...Nugget always covers his face, but not the goods!! I keep joking with DH that he's going to grow up to be a stripper...Chat Icon

I would only worry if they weren't consistent or there was some doubt. But we were told after two sonos it was a boy, and the last sono she said "definitely."

Yes...My nephew Jason was born 7/5/09 she had multiple sono's where they said it was a girl. Everything she had was for a girl.

Re: Do you ever worry the gender you were told was incorrect?

Lately yes, I have this gut feeling that one is a boy! DH says no they are both girls...I keep having reoccuring dreams that one is a boy even though the tech told us girls. Baby A was cooperative and showed us it was a girl but Baby B was always iffy. Finally at 19 weeks she said girl but I wasn't convinced! The last time she checked to confirm again the baby didn't cooperate again. April 4th we go again for another growth sono and I am hoping to see it one more time before I go out and buy their take home outfits and bedding!

Re: Do you ever worry the gender you were told was incorrect?

A silly as this is going to sound I still worry. I saw his package myself quite a few times on sonos and I had Amnio which confirms it 100% so I should not be worried but I do. His nursery is all sports and his clothes are all blue.

I guess it is the anxiety of waiting to meet him that makes me 2nd guess everythingChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Do you ever worry the gender you were told was incorrect?

I worry a little... We found out Chat Icon early at 15 weeks, 4 days. I worry that MAYBE it was the cord or a foot! Chat Icon I'm already bonding with him as a boy. I have my level II on Thursday, so I'll feel confident after it's confirmed. With DS#1, we didn't find out until level II at 20 weeks and it was clear as day, so I didn't worry at all!

Re: Do you ever worry the gender you were told was incorrect?

I haven't worried but a few weeks ago we had an impromtu ultra sound and the woman was like do you know what it is and we were like yes, girl and she was like lets just double check and at that moment i held my breath like suddenly they were going to say boy but she was like yup definitely a girl so i no longer worry.

I still worry about this in the back of my mind, even after 3 confirmed sonos! But realistically, I know they are probably right.

Re: Do you ever worry the gender you were told was incorrect?

I did with DS...I'm sure I will with this LO also. With DS I had them check again at my 34w or 35w sono since my shower was around 35w. Chat Icon

My cousin in Canada was told she was having a girl. had the name picked out a beautiful mural with her name painted, everything was pink. She had a boyChat Icon Chat Icon . She was happy...just wished she had known it was a boy. After she told me that I knew I'd worry about the s e x of the baby and if they got it right.

Re: Do you ever worry the gender you were told was incorrect?

i have heard of it happening. my friend's sister thought it was a girl until 2 weeks before her due date. she had to go return everything and redo the nursery bc everything she had was pink. However, I think cases like that are rare!
