I think I have learned a lot and grown. I think that having Ava has changed me in ways I never thought I would, and made me understand things I couldn't otherwise understand. I'm a work in progress, but I'm trying.

I definitely have, especially over the last two years. A lot has happened to me; I got married and had TWO babies. When I compare myself to my friends that are my age, I feel like we're in two completely different worlds, which is probably the main reason we're struggling to stay friends...

yes, i think i have. small things can still get to me, but i think i've learned how to deal and move on rather then dwell.

I have! Being a mom has definitely changed me. I have never been so happy- and it really helps me not to sweat teh small stuff.

I too think that I have learned and grown about a lot of things. Having my beautiful little girl put a lot of things into perspective for me. Having PPD really showed me who my friends were and who were just people I know. I have learned to stop taking other people's problems and issues into my own life. I realized that their lives are theirs and mine is mine and I can't let their negativity effect me. If they are true friends I will help them for all I can but I have to remember that my priorities are my little girl and my DH and I can sacrifice them for people that are not really true friends.

I think I am starting to relax more and not get as stressed as easy.

i have... but, in some ways, i also feel like i've regressed

I think that I stand by my convictions much more than i used to, and i've gotten better at being dependable.

But, i think that I used to be alot nicer, but just got tired of dealing with BS... so i don't bite my tongue anymore, when sometimes, i should.

I've definately grown as a person and learned a lot over the past 2 years. I still have a long way to go, but getting there slowly.

I definately like me better now than I did a few years ago, which feels good.

Dh and I were talking about this over dinner tonight.

Only a few years ago before meeting DH, I was in a miserable relationship with someone who drank too much and we fought constantly. I know now what a "toxic" relationship is and how you cannot change people. People have to want to change themselves.

I used to party ALOT as I am sure we all did. Now I am very content being married, spending my time with DH, having a house and responsibilities and am in love with the fact I am going to be a mother in less than a month. I learned what is truely important in life.

I learned I do not need 100 acquaintances (or people who I thought were my friends), I am happy with the small group of TRUE friends I have now.

I appreciate the people in my life more now, especially my parents. I realize they were only looking out for me and trying to guide me in the right direction when we had those terrible, teenage/college fights.

I have always been outspoken and said what was on my mind, but I now pick and choose my battles. Some battles just aren't worth fighting especially when it causes me more stress and anguish than it's worth.

I continue to appreciate and love DH more and more as time goes on. We have helped each other to grow and mature and make each other happier than we ever have been. I know we will grow together even more as parents.

I definately think I have changed since becoming a wife and mother. I am way more patient and understanding. I learned not to sweat the small stuff.

From this thread, I have learned of someone else who apparently is no friend of mine.
To that person I say, If you have something you would like to get off your chest, please feel free to send me an email (removed email from public view after other posters helped me realize some things).

Apparently someone who is conceited (glad I learned that word the other day) enough to think that I posted this specifically about them.
I can't change the way people think but I can be shocked at what they say behind my back.

Thank you for the reminder. I have changed and that includes how I handle things. Instead of getting worked up I just have to chalk it up to human nature and move on...not everyone is going to like or love you. I guess I simply wish that these TWO (yes I have sinced learned of another person) people had said something to me before assumptions were made.

Anyway, to answer the question, I just started to realize last week, that I have grown. It was kind of weird to realize as something that has happened before was happening again, but I was handling it differently.

It's also strange, that it happened now, b/c nobody died, I didn't have any babies, etc.

My friend asked a few weeks ago if I felt my life had changed, but getting married and buying home didn't seem like that big of a change.

It was just the way I handled a bad week that seemed to change me, or at least make me realize that I had changed.

I have learned who I can trust and who I can't.

I have learned that family is everything.

I have learned that I miss my father more than I ever thought possible.

I have learned that I love DH more than I ever thought possible.

I have learned that I need to be a complete person before I give myself to someone else.

I have learned selfishness and selflessness.

I have learned that my heart and soul are being tested constantly.

I have learned that everything does not have a nice neat little place.

I have learned that I am not as strong as I put myself out to be.

I have learned that I should say "no" to people more often.

I have learned that relaxation is stressful.

After all of the things that I have learned, I suppose one could say I have grown, but I feel it is lateral growth. I am still figuring how to move on from the things that weigh heavy on my mind. I am not there yet

I think I've learned more about human nature this past year than I cared to.

I've become disgusted with some people around me, disappointed in some people I thought I could count on. I've never been a cynical person nor am I all sunshine & butterflies. I've been told countless times this year that some peple are azzholes. I just didn't realize the predatory nature until recently.

As for grown, I've grown in some ways, regressed in others. I've grown to the point where lessons learned above hurt a little less (although the next 2 months I expect to be feeling the hurt more acutely than the previous 10 months). On the flip side, I felt like I was brought down several levels to a place I didn't want to be.

I know this thread was probably meant to be more positive, but now I'm positive that some people suck & make up excuses for their behavior no matter how inexcusable it was or the horrible consequences that follow.

Sorry Deb if anything, I've learned one lesson directly from you. Complete strangers can truly care for one another like I've never seen before. I can't tell you how many women I've met (on & off the site) that truly care for you, your well-being and your family. Thank you. It's been a truly crappy year but this lesson is one that helped me stay hopeful.
