Do you get annoyed when a neighbor always parks in front of your house?

I have a neighbor who we always wave hello/goodbye to but there have been issues in the past where her guests park smack in the middle of the front of our house. Whatever it annoyed us but it wasn't happening all the time so we didnt have to address it.


Now, said neighbor's creepo boyfriend moves in. He has 2 sons and they each have a car. Now mind you she has an extremely long driveway she DOESNT use. Every time we come home one of their cars is parked right in front of our house! It's so annoying!! EVERY TIME!!

Get a clue annoying neighbors!

ETA: They are right across from us - and park one of their four car in FRONT of their driveway- so I when I back out of my driveway (because they are parked in font of my house) I have to pull out like an old lady!!

i'm not laughing at you but this reminds me of the post that imthekevinofcindyandkevin made a few weeks ago.

i agree that it's irritating especially if they have a driveway they can use!

Lately the tenant downstairs from us has been parking right in the middle of our house so I have to squeeze in front of him. I got tired of doing that so now I just park right on his bumper. I've done it 3x so far and nothing has been said. We never see them and they don't answer their door so I can't even ask him to stop.

I don't own the street so its fine if someone else parks there. If they block the driveway, well thats another story.

We protect the front of our house like it's the only parking spot in the world...but parking is nuts around here..

honestly, with all the other horrible things going on in the world, I wouldn't even notice or care if someone parked in front of my house (unless of course it was designated "my spot" and someone kept taking it).

i suppose you are right. Maybe it's a conglomerate of issues that annoy me about them. They also let the dogs out at the asscrack of dawn- then don't let them in when they bark bark bark bark. Stuff like that. I just feel like they are very inconsiderate when it comes to neighborly courtesy i guess.

I am laughing because DH and I are going through the same thing. We live in NJ and on any given day there are NO cars to be seen parked anywhere on our whole street...

EXCEPT... for our neighbor diagonally across the street who loves parking in front of our house???

We just don't get it. Always thought it was an unwritten rule that if you can park in front of your own house, you do it and not in front of your neighbor's house.

DH wants to say something to him, but I just want to keep the peace and tell him he better not.

But it is just something that bugs the crap out of us!!!

ETA: Maybe it bugs us because we are so blessed and have no other issues... I suppose everyone needs something to be bugged about!!!

no- but I have lived in Long Beach and now bayside- so it's every man for themselves

I doubt when I move back to the burbs this year if it will bother me much - b/c I will have a driveway and that is more exciting to me then a house

I'll never say something to our 'violating' neighbors hahaha but it does annoy me to no end.. everyone on my block has at least a 2 car driveway... but most people choose to park on the street.. why? no idea (and im in nj in a very residential neighborhood)...but if we do have people coming over we move the cars to "save" our spaces in front of the house then move them back later on...this one lady does it all the time i wanna just yell and scream haha but i just wave hi hahahah

it's happened to us twice!

the rental we had, the neigbors would do it ALL THE TIME.

now that we bought our house... we have a love of sidewalk, funny lot. anyway, the neighbors across the street always park in front of our house.

he's a cop. i guess it's better to have him park there than someone else...lol

Yes- if someone ALWAYS parked in front of my house instead of their own and they had the space to park in front of their own house - it would kind of bug me. I guess this will make people think I am petty, stupid, a control freak or highly irritable. Or maybe that I have nothing better to worry about. But I am being honest, so think what you need to!

I probably wouldn't complain about it or let it ruin my day... but it would definitely make me a bit irritated that they didn't want to block the space in front of THEIR home - but blocking the one in front of mine is just fine. It seems kind of like a lack of respect or something like that?

One of the reasons it bugs me is because when people park in front of a property that does not belong to them they can be a bit careless. I have had people pull up on the curb and take out chunks of grass - not on purpose - but it happens and it is ugly and a little bit of a bother to correct.

I am totally with you on this one. Although nobody "owns" the street like a previous poster said, it is called COURTESY!!
They have more than enough room to park on their side and they should stay there.
We have the same problem with our neighbors and to top it off, we are in a complex with ASSIGNED & NUMBERED spots and the neighbors boyfriend likes to take ours

We don't do it to anyone else, so why do they feel the need to do it to us?

I really don't see why people get all hyped about about this, unless you need to park your own car on the street. As a homeowner you don't own the street. If they were littering or loitering in front of the house then maybe I can understand. Why waste the time and energy getting all worked up about it?

this happens all day to me..and she leaves her huge driveway free.
I get to back out with a bad back and neck and make sure I do not hit her...
but its a huge caddy truck so at least I look like I have money...

I always thought that this was a just a "Staten Island" thing since most of the homes here are either semi or fully detached split level, so theres ample parking for each car to have a car in their garage & a spot in front of their own houses in most areas. I live across the street from an elementary school and I have enough parking on my block (when school is not in session) to fit 20 cars, so with that said, I would get upset if my neighbor (especially my trash tennants) parks in front of my house. Sometimes people on my block are just too lazy to make a U-turn to park on the opposite side of the street. Sorry I'm rambling on with this.

I guess it all depends on what area you live in & what type of neighborhood. I know that for example if you actually find a spot in Brooklyn (Bay Ridge) it is a godsend.

Yes, I have a neighbor that does this and yes, it bothers me.

The reason? Because the front of his house is completely open. So he could park in front of his own house, but chooses to park in front of mine.

If you live in a really suburban area where most people park in their driveways, it's noticeable.

Is this life and death? No. But is it an annoyance? Sure.

The people across the street from us park their lexus truck right in front of our driveway which makes it a nightmare for Danielle to back out in our SUV......We have to back the truck in now because we have to always worry ab out a car being right behind us when we back out.

there is a small spot in between our and our neighbors driveway and they always park ther making it hard for us to see and pull out
