Do you have a fear of driving over bridges?

Weird thing happened to me the other day.

Drove into city (I was the driver) and sat in traffic on the upper part of the 59th Street bridge.

I started to feel anxious and talked myself down from having it spiral into a full-fledged panic attack.

Then I watched that little cable car thing go over Roosevelt Island and I couldn't ever imagine how anyone in his right mind can do such a thing.

Anyway, I just about needed a fcking Xanax by the time I got off that bridge.

I'm not one to run from fears, so I made it a point to drive home the same way. I was fine.

what about you all?

I don't love driving over bridges, I find the idea of it a little unnerving if you really think about it that you're driving over the river.. but I don't think about it and drive over bridges and in tunnels all the time!

I don't particularly enjoy it...usually a day or two before I drive over a bridge, I have a nightmare about it. I just stay focused while I'm driving and say a little prayer in my head.

No fear. I actually enjoy it, since I don't drive over bridges that often.

Never even thought about it. Been driving, cycling, running and walking over bridges my whole life.

I have a co-worker who is afraid of bridges and tunnels...but she's also afraid of flying, riding in elevators alone, vegetables, the list goes on and on and on...

I hate bridges but I am also terrified of heigth. I feel I am going to fall off every time I go on a bridge. I avoid the right lane at all cost if there are multiple lanes. I think I stop breathing until we reach the other side.

yes, I absolutely cannot be in the right lane, particularly when i'm a passenger.

Although driving isn't my favorite thing in the world, I'm surprisingly okay with bridges.

That cable car to Roosevelt Island is another thing...DH took me on it one (he grew up on R.I). I'd rather just take the subway!

yes but i havent drove over one in a long time. usually dh drives and i dont pay attention.
i will however freak out if there is traffic or an accident on the bridge

doesnt bother me but my mom has a major fear of it. She once took the chesapeake bay bridge, which is like miles and miles long and had to have someone from the bridge authority drive her over! probably not the best bridge for someone with a phobia to take!

No. But I am not a fan of the Goethels Bridge or the Verrazano - the lanes are really narrow.

Nope. The only bridge that gets me a little nervous is the Verrazano and that's because your car gets pushed so hard by the wind that you feel like you're going into another lane.

absolutely hate it... the whole time I have butterflies in my stomach and have trouble breathing. DH has learned to start a conversation as we get on to try to distract me. The worst was the Bridge-Tunnel in the OBX...
I am actually better off driving tho, cause they I just focus on the cars around me and not the water surrounding us!

Doesn't bother me...but sometimes as I drive over, I think "What if a terrorist blows this thing up right now."

Bridges, along with spiders, are my biggest phobia. It's all about being in a submerged car for me after the bridge collapses. I have panic attacks every time so DH talks about fluffy kittens romping in meadows to me! I create a contingency plan in my head on how I'm going to get my kids out of the car seats.
The Kosciuszko bridge is my absolute LEAST favourite.

Doesn't bother me, but I will admit that after the bridge collapse in Minneapolis a few years ago, I purchased one of these "escape tools" for each of our cars. It is a seat belt cutter as well as a hammer that will break through tempered glass.
