Do you have a male or female obgyn?
I went through a lot of trouble to find a female obgyn but it's such a busy practice that i haven't even been able to actually meet with the doctor yet, only nurse practioners. won't be able to meet the actual doctor until my 12 week appointment.
I'm considering switching to a male obgyn.

Re: Do you have a male or female obgyn?
My doctor is female, but there are 7 doctors in this practice, some are male and it's part of their practice that I see each doctor at least once during my pregnancy.

Male. I have been to female ob's and I prefer a male. I actually prefer male dr's all around. Not sure why.

Male. I generally prefer male ob/gyns. There is one female in the practice, and I saw her once, and didn't like her. I love my doc.

Re: Do you have a male or female obgyn?
I have had bad experience with women obs so i go to males. You would think that they would be more understanding since they are women and basically go through the same thing as you but i found them to be VERY COLD!!!!!

Re: Do you have a male or female obgyn?
My GYN was a woman before I got pregnant. But she does not deliver, so for my pregnancy I was seeing the only OB who is a male. I thought about switching, but I ended up liking him & decided to stay. At my 12 week appt he told me that they just hired a female OBGYN who was starting in July & he wanted all of his pregnant patients to meet her as it could be either one them that end up delivering the baby. I met her at my 20 week appt last month & I really like her. Now that I have met with her I have the choice of who I want to see for the rest of my appts. I think I will stick with the female for now & see the male when she is unavailable.

Re: Do you have a male or female obgyn?
I much prefer a male OB. I never understood the logic of needing the "same parts" to know the human body. They all go to med school so whats the diff?

I go to all females, there are 2 female ob's and 3 female midwives. I LOVE them all! they make sure to cycle you through everyone so you are familiar with each one.

Re: Do you have a male or female obgyn?
I go to a female obgyn. The entire practice is women. I like it there and feel very comfortable, but have never had experience with a male doc, so can't really compare.

Re: Do you have a male or female obgyn?
I've had both in the past.
I have a Male OBGYN right now with a Female NP
*shrug*
This practice used to have more female OBGYNs but they all seemed to have moved, retired or relocated. So I ended up with the guy. He's GREAT, so gentle and very kind.
The women here were wonderful too. On normal paps they were painless and its like it never happened.
So basically, I'd go either way.
Though, mostly I find women to be a lil 'rougher' and less likely to understand that it's uncomfortable for *ME* when I guess they figure as women they should "know" what is and isn't comfortable. Where as men, having no female parts, listen more closely to what women say is and isn't 'right' or 'comfortable'. So usually I go for men, if I can.

Re: Do you have a male or female obgyn?
My practice has 6 doctors, 4 male, 2 female. With DS, I saw all the docs and one of the males delivered DS (a female broke my water). I am now seeing the female OB that broke my water. I really like her attitude towards my pregnancy and I feel very comfortable with her. I think that is more important than the sex of the doctor, your comfort level with that doctor.

Re: Do you have a male or female obgyn?
I had always seen a female doc-- but since when I got prego, I was considered high risk-- I just went to the best doc I could find, and that was a male.
It's not as horrible as I thought it would be-- he's old!

Re: Do you have a male or female obgyn?
I see a female OB/Gyn but she's in a practice with 2 other male doctors. I'm going to ask her at my next visit (8/21) if I am going to meet them before hand.
