They both sound so good now! I'm not crazy about the idea of DVDR having to find it and record specifically as i would if I had it hooked up to a vcr box, but the cost is much better than Tivo and my DH wont know what hes not missing..... Chat Icon

Here is another question... if I have a DVD in my DVD player and I am playing it on the TV can I DVR the DVD. I would manual record channel 3...do you think that would work so I could store a DVD on the DVR?

Once you DVR something, and you want to "Save It" to a DVD recorder, there is an option in the menu to output the signal. You can hook your DVD Recorder to that, and record that way if you are not DVD Recording when the show is already on

Re: Do you have TiVo or DVDR with cable?

I have a DVR and can tape a show as follows:

Save one episode, one time only
Save all episodes on this channel
Save any episode on any channel at this time
Save any episode on any channel at any time
Save all episodes on any channel at any time
Save first-run only

Lots of options to pre-record shows. So you don't have to physically be home to press record when your show is on. The DVR will just record it for you and save it. I don't know if it can record 6 weeks in advance, but you can tab ahead a week or so (maybe more, havent tried it) and see what's on and then hit Record and it will tape the show for you even though its not on that week or that day.....
