I don't think so. I have good friends that we differ on many different topics of life, politics, etc. and I can still be friendly with them.
However I will admit that I try not to get into discussions over those topics and avoid them like the plague.  I'd rather have a good time vs. debating over whose side is right or wrong cause in the end they aren't going to change my mind and I'm not gonna change mine. Rather just respect their opinions to agree to disagree and not get into those off topics.

No way Jose... though I will say, Ive found myself dislinking people that have very different opinions than me on
"stuff" and are ruthless when talking about their beliefs and how right they are....

I can be friends with someone that has a different opinion than mine. I just can't really be friends with someone who is closed minded to hearing a different POV.

MOST of my friends have very different opinions of me. That doesn't change our friendship. If they were disrespectful of my opinions (or if I were of theirs), then I doubt we'd be friends.

No, but I will avoid topics I know we disagree on. I don't really like debating a topic we both feel strongly about, because it seems pointless. I will not change my mind and they won't change theirs. This is assuming it's a topic we both have knowledge on, not just misinformation or hearsay like the uninformed statement I get from people that my car is the least safe on the road or something

Depends on what it is about and how much respect they are willing to show my beliefs.
Off the board, if they keep hammering on & on about something that I disagree with after I've stated my opinion, then I think they are short-sighted & cannot agree to disagree.
On the board, to keep posting about the same topic over & over, makes me think the person is passionate about a topic. I do  at some point & think "We get it...you think x, y & z...(or p,a,l,i & n)"
I do think less of a friend who justified her opinion on gay marriage by saying "God made Adam & Eve, not Adam & Steve." I think after 4 years of college & grad school, she'd have a better argument about her beliefs. If you're going to believe in something, I'd like to hear the reasoning behind it.

I don't think you have to share the same opinions on everything but I do think in order to make an initial connection it helps to have something in common to discuss.
but to agree on everything? that would be boring

It depends on the opinion. Usually yes, honest debate can be fun and differences in opinion are normal. But if the person has an opinion that I think is immoral or malicious or just really, really, really stupid, it does make me think less of them (and I find it hard to be their friend).

no, but we have to be willing to disagree. i am jewish and i have a catholic "friend" that just will not even acknowledge that we don't share the same views. she will argue and almost fight with me for hours, even when i just say agree to disagree--she always MUST be right.
