Without getting too specific I basically work in County Government but the work I do is sometimes very public... people seem to think that's cool, they see me in the paper and on the news from time to time. I get to do press conferences, public health events, be on camera a lot (which I kind of hate but everyone else seems to think it's so awesomel)  , I get to present in front of large groups, attend a lot of luncheons, dinners, formal events and fundraisers, and then I get to work with the police department (my favorite kind of people, the straight shooters, no pun intended) -- I help them plan, implement, and carry out sobriety checkpoints. I get to see the action happen but I don't have to worry about getting my a$$ shot at - so, that's a plus. I get to go to Albany and DC a lot - work, sit, and chat with politicians. I have met pretty much everyone in that circuit from this area - like Rudy, Pataki, Cuomo, DA's from all the counties, Senators, Congresspeople, the VP, County Execs, etc. People seem to think that's cool - they like to see my pictures I have hanging in my office. I only put up the ones where I look thin
The cool part, to me, is the fact that I know what I'm doing is saving lives and making what happened to my brother and his suffering a horrific injury and living with adversity - I know me doing this made it so that all of his anguish didn't happen in vain.

I do something very similar and we are hiring. But honestly it is not quite what it sounds like.
It actually sounds very stressful and keeping physicians happy is no easy feat. I've attended a bunch of these giant conferences and have run a few small ones- it ain't easy!

VERY Stressful and VERY long hours. I won't have a full day off until the end of February.

Do you know anyone with a seriously awesome job?
I used to intern at a Long Island newspaper! I had a great time when I did that, I went to a bunch of press conferences, got backstage passes to Jones Beach concerts met and interviewed a bunch of local politians and celebrities and then got to see my articles in the paper and on their website. It was a really cool fun job but unfortunately I needed a more stable full time kind of job with benefits so I had to leave to get a job that paid the bills. I loved it though and I miss it all the time.

DH's aunt's BIL does bird banding and study of kiwi birds in New Zealand. I thought that was pretty cool! I have only met him 2x, but I am so jealous of his work!
An acquaintance from college runs tours of Africa and other amazing locations around the globe.

Do you know anyone with a seriously awesome job?
I worked in HR for an entertainment company. Met amazing celebs who some are "friendly" outside of work. Get to go to events usually VIP or front rows. Great job. Tough industry. Frustrating sometimes when people talk about people I know and I cant say the truth or confirm. Still in contact with friends so my family still gets the hook up.

I just came from my Kindergartners school where I volunteer in library every Wed. Tomorrow I will go to my other sons class and volunteer there. Next Monday I am getting a haircut, etc. etc.
Are you hiring? I do like working, but I would kill for that kind of flexibility!

My best friend is a US diplomat. Coolest job!!! The stories I hear are so interesting. He's early in his career but is super intelligent and has traveled to 6/7 continents!

I have a cool job. I work in the theatre industry and while my job itself isn't on the creative side, my perks include visits to the office from casts of different shows, comp tickets to most shows on Broadway, all sorts of free swag that the marketing companies send to us, Tony Award tickets, etc.
It's nice to have, oh...John Stamos walk through the door to say hello. Or Woody Harrelson, OMG was I excited for that!
I love my job. I really do enjoy what I do, the people I work with and my company. These perks are icing on the cake.
This is so cool!
I always wondered how one gets started into this field. I would imagine you need to know someone...

Then again, I don't like constant travelling (did it years ago, but now that I am older and have kids, it's no where near as much fun), don't like celebrities, and I don't like dealing with the public in general. Cars don't talk back to you...

I think my husbands job is really awesome. He builds super luxury houses for billionaires fashion icons and celebrities in the Hamptons. He gets to know some of them pretty well. The houses are over the top, a few have been on TV shows and in magazines.

My DS booked an HBO acting gig thats been pretty cool experience. 6 yrs old and he has a better job than me
