I learned before I even had a license. I only use self serve gas station unless in Jersey where it's against the law

I grew up in Huntington where all gas stations are full serve, but I wanted to learn b/c I knew I wouldn't get gas in Huntington for the rest of my life. So yes, I know. My guy friends taught me.

Yep. When DH and I got married we moved "out east". A lot of the stations out there are self serve, so, I had him teach me.

I would be really surprised if someone says no it's not rocket science. even if you've never done it - you open the gas tank door, lift the pump handle off the cradle and pull the metal lever to start pumping. when it stops, you're done.

Absolutely.
However, sad to say, my 59-year old mother can not. Well, I am guessing she could, but she doesn't. My dad always puts gas in her car, or she pays for full serve

Do I pump my own gas....NO.
Long story short I grew up in Huntington where they dont allow self serve gas stations so I never really had to pump my own gas....I moved out to Nesconset 3 years ago. Got into a couple of fights with the gas pump resulting in several showers and a couple of changes of clothes...So for the safety of others and my own sanity I do not pump my own gas.

I've been doing it since the first day I started driving!! I only go to self serve. I have 1 friend who's never pumped gas, it boggles my mind.

my sister made me learn. she taught me a few years ago. i hate it.. it grosses me out to think how many people have touched that handle.i use anti-bacterial the second i am done, i even leave my car door open so i dont have to touch anything right after i pump- right to the purel. ewwwies. but she MADE me do it one day. i think there's a picture of it somewhere. i think i was crying.

My dad took me to the gas station when it was the first or second trip out with my learner's permit, and told me I had to get gas. So I did...have been doing it ever since. I get confused when I am in Jersey and the guy comes over to my car.

Yep had to learn when I moved to FL 2 1/2 years ago. All stations down here are self serve. I was so used to someone doing it for me when i lived in LI.
